31 December 2020 New Year’s Eve is traditionally a time to look back on the year. Life around the globe was redefined during 2020 it was certainly not what we expected! After PDAC in early March, we adjusted to the world becoming virtual technical lectures, geoscience mentoring and even cycling went online. We adapted and were able to be active throughout the year. Plans for 2021 are ambitious so stay tuned. As we say goodbye to 2020, we wish our industry colleagues and community friends a Happy New Year! @reactiongeological@reactiongeology#reactiongeological#geochemistry#geoscience#geoscienceliteracy#geoscienceeducation#geoscienceadvocacy@brantcyclingclub#brantcyclingclub#cannondaleroad#systemsix#Panaracer#gravelkingsk#mybrantford#brantford#brantfordon#brantfordontario

12 November 2020 - Uranium mining has a prolific history in Saskatchewan. Starting in the early 1950’s, the Beaverlodge District on the north shore of Lake Athabasca produced over 65 million pounds of uranium from a combination of open pit and underground mines. Mining ceased in 1982 due to a combination of increasing cost and low price for uranium. Within the Beaverlodge District, uranium mineralization was hosted in structurally controlled veins within the Martin and Ta...zin Groups. Intense hematite alteration is a notable feature seen throughout the district. The vast majority of uranium mined was hosted in simple deposits - pitchblende, abundant pyrite and minor base metal sulphides.Complex deposits - pitchblende, pyrite, base metal selenides/arsenides and sporadic native precious metals were a second class of deposits which produced a minor amount of uranium. Unconformity related uranium deposits in the Athabasca Basin are world renowned for their exceptional grades. Canada is the second largest producer of uranium in the world. 11 November 2020 -Lest We Forget. In Flanders Fields: by John McCrae In Flanders fields the poppiesblow... Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. #Poppies #LestWeForget #RemembranceDay

22 August 2020 Today is a busy one for cyclists in Brantford and Brant County today! The day started early for cyclists taking part in the Cannonball 300, including BCC’s own @grahamchit Meanwhile, at the @BrantfordRotaryBikePark, maintenance was underway hard working staff from Brantford’s Park and Rec along with many BCC members and volunteers worked quickly while a group of young cyclists gathered for the noon reopening. The Bike Park sprang to life as eager cyclists... took to the track, while BCC members had their rides awaiting a day on local trails. Brantford and Brant County are home to a superb network of trails (paved, gravel, etc) and roads awaiting discovery. Whether you’re new to cycling or a seasoned rider - there’s something to be found in our own backyard! RGCI has proudly sponsored BCC since 2016. @reactiongeological @brantcyclingclub @BrantRotaryBikePark @tourismbrantford

24 July 2020 Today’s #FlashbackFriday post poses the question, What did Timmins look like in 1911? It’s a fun and interesting question and we find the answer in the maps on display in today’s post. After 100+ years of mining, giant deposits like Hollinger, Dome, etc helped establish Timmins as a world famous mining camp. Entire townships shown in the 1911 maps were unmapped, yet who could have imagined what exploration would reveal. Historical data plays a valuable r...ole in our industry - which shouldn’t be underestimated or overlooked. Research allows exploration concepts to flourish whether challenging or verifying ideas it’s an integral part of our business. New discoveries are driven through investment in exploration and research. 24 March 2020 In the last couple of weeks, we have witnessed unprecedented changes to daily life. While working remotely allows us to protect the well-being of staff and colleagues, RGCI is #openforbusiness and continues to work with our industry clients as an integral part of their exploration programs. Please connect with @reactiongeological today and see how we can work together. Since RGCI was founded in 2014, investment in industry and community has been a company fun...damental. RGCI is actively involved in public education, geoscience advocacy and industry mentoring. Collaborating with other businesses while promoting geoscience and education is a unique fit for us! This rock sample from the enigmatic Boston Creek Flow will be worked upon by award winning goldsmith, Peter van Walraven (@pt.raven). Examples of Peter's work can be found @vwgoudsmid. The first photograph is a sample of spinifex textured clinopyroxenite (16.5 x 14.3 x 9.0 cm) taken from the Boston Creek Flow in Boston TWP, Ontario. Rocks from the Boston Creek Flow are enigmatic: single grains of clinopyroxene that can be up to 60 cm in length; an unusually thick spinifex zone (up to 35 m) and anomalous concentrations of PGM. The second photograph is a thin section (~1.5 x 3.0 cm) which shows primary and secondary clinopyroxenes, amphibole, etc. The Boston Creek Flow has experienced a low degree of metamorphism associated with the intrusion of the Round Lake Batholith. A suite of Fe-rich (up to ~20 wt% FeO) secondary clinopyroxenes was discovered in proximity to PGM mineralization. Please contact us for further information, references, etc about the Boston Creek Flow! @reactiongeological #reactiongeological #vwgoudsmid #geoscienceliteracy #geoscienceeducation #geoscienceadvocacy #geosciencementor #geochemistry #geoscience #mineralexploration #mining #geology #3dmodelling #interpretation #QAQC #mineralogy #clinopyroxene #petrology #sciencefromhome #minerals #ontario #datacompilation #explorationdataanalysis #businesscontinuity #workingfromhome

5 March 2020 Recap of days 3 and 4 at PDAC. The last two days at PDAC are always the busiest! Made many new connections, visited with clients and reconnected with old colleagues - in the photo with me is Pete van Walraven (@pt.raven), who worked with RGCI on a client project in Ontario. Pete is now an award winning goldsmith, and an FCGmA based in Toronto (Peter's work can be found @vwgoudsmid and www.vwgoudsmid.ca). Although PDAC is done for another year, the conference ...demonstrates the importance of our industry to society. As professionals we can play a role in educating others, encourage students to pursue a career in our industry and mentor young professionals in the early stages of their careers. Time invested with students and fostering their career growth is an investment in the future of our industry. #PDAC2020 is now done and am looking forward to next year’s PDAC. Reaction Geological Consulting Incorporated 22.05.2020

31 December 2019 - The last day of the year is time to reflect on the year that has passed by. Since we founded RGCI in 2014, investment in industry and community has been a company cornerstone and this past year was our most active to date. Whether it's been presenting technical talks, getting filthy in the infamous Paris to Ancaster race or mentoring geoscience students - this has been a very busy year for us. We have even more planned for 2020 so stay tuned. As 2019 ...winds down, we wish our friends and colleagues a Happy New Year! @reactiongeological @reactiongeology #reactiongeological #geochemistry #geoscience #geoscienceliteracy #geoscienceeducation #geoscienceadvocacy @brantcyclingclub @paris2ancaster #paris2ancaster #brantcyclingclub #cannondaleroad #systemsix #mybrantford #brantford #brantfordon #brantfordontario #exploreontario #topoflakesuperior #lakesuperior
