What does speech therapy even look like right now? This is a year like no other. We’ve all been through so much change, uncertainty, even isolation. Kids are waiting even longer to get the service they need. Parents are unsure where to go or what to do. If you live in Ontario and are waiting for speech and language support through the preschool speech and language system or through the schools, you can access private therapy. Speech therapy is often covered if you hav...e extended health benefits through your employer. This is a great time to get started if your plan’s year-end is December 31. An assessment is a valuable resource for understanding your child and how to help. I am currently offering virtual sessions online over zoom. Just like in-person, I have lots of ways to make it fun and effective for kids! I still have a few spots for assessments before the end of the year. If you have concerns with your child’s speech and language development, let’s get started. http://www.rebeccathompsonslp.com Please share

Moms are faced with a bundle of challenges when they’re trying to practice speech at home, like the expectation that home is a place to play not work, like siblings creating distraction, like parent-child power struggles the list goes on. .... Don’t expect your home practice to look like a speech therapy session. You and your child will create your own dance that will allow you to feel the joy of being mom while helping your child progress in speech. It will be your own and it will be just right for you . #speechmom #apraxia #apraxiaofspeech #speechsounddisorder #speechtherapy #speechdisorders #fixmyr #speechsoundsynergy #cas #speechtherapyathome #articulationtherapy #mom #momofboys #momofgirls #momlife

The Guelph #walkforapraxia hits the Bruce Trail this year. I guess the upside of the #apraxiawalk going virtual is that I could also get away for my 20th anniversary with my husband. I missed the community and big hearted vibe of the real life event. And my high schoolers missed getting volunteer hours for goofing around in superhero costumes! ... Fingers crossed we can walk together next year and celebrate the kids and families who work so hard every day - in person! @apraxiacanadiana @the.real.heather_ @luisa_sanita #guelphapraxiawalk @apraxiaspeechtherapy

Hands up if that’s ever been you and a if your child ever busted you in front of your SLP . Don’t feel guilty.
