While always a controversial topic, this study of over 657,000 children found that the MMR vaccination did not increase risk of autism (actually a 7% risk reduction). Full study linked below to be published tomorrow. Should be very reassuring to concerned or worried parents.

Looking for a great detox, cleanse or diet to kickstart 2019? Stop, they don't work and in some cases can be harmful. Instead of following restrictive or fad diets, set a goal of adding a few more daily servings of vegetables and fruit and reduce the number of meals eaten out of the home. Focus on consistency versus perfection. Instead of taking multiple supplements to 'boost' energy and the immune system, set a goal to get an extra hour or so of sleep per night.... Incorporate regular daily movement and focus on activities that you enjoy that get your heart rate up. Some is good, more is better, exercise that is social and fun is best. Foster social connections, having a 'tribe' seems to promote longevity. You can actively detox by shutting off Dr. Oz, avoiding social media ad's or articles recommending fad/restrictive diets and belly fat melting foods, supplements, miracle cures, cure-alls, and secrets your doctor doesn't want you to know about. Who knows, but by avoiding these health traps with their associated time and financial costs, you may just save enough to fly south during our long Saskatchewan winters. Think of it as a cold weather detox - one that works! https://nccih.nih.gov/health/detoxes-cleanses

"As little as 10-min physical activity per week or 1 day of doing exercise per week might result in increased levels of happiness." Find something you enjoy, be consistent, and ideally with a friend or loved one. Some is good, more is better. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10902-018-9976-0

Label fail! 160 calories per serving isn’t bad, except when 1 serving is a 1/3rd of a cinnamon bun. Food industry tricks at their finest. #foodnotfads #healthylifestyle #healthyfood #reginanaturopathic

Eating just 2 ounces (~46 nuts) per week led to an impressive 46% reduction in colon cancer recurrence. Tree nuts which include almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, cashews, and pecans, are also linked to lower incidence of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and reduction in insulin resistance.

Craving sugar? Here's a simple trick. Go to the grocery store, farmers marker, or stop at a local roadside stand. Buy a pound (or pint) of strawberries. Eat the whole pound. There are only 150 calories in 1 lbs of strawberries. 444% of your vitamin C and 100% delicious.
