Thanks to Blue Box programs, the Recycling Depot, composting and other initiatives, Richmond residents in single family homes diverted 78.9% of their waste from the landfill last year, coming close to the City’s 80% waste diversion target. Do you think we can do hit 80% this year? Visit our City at Work exhibit to find out more!
A bit of humour to send you into the weekend !
Happy birthday to us! The City of Richmond turns 30 today. We might be young as a city, but we became a municipality on November 10, 1879, years before the city of Vancouver.

City at Work fun fact: British Columbians drove on the left side of the road prior to 1921, when the province changed to driving on the right side. But not Richmond! Richmond and Vancouver were given an additional year to change over trams and streetcars. Hmm, are you wondering how that worked too?
