Ridge K.I.D.S. 11.10.2020

This morning the first thing the children told me was that there was snow outside and that we could build a snowman. The children continued to ask if it was Christmas because there was snow outside. I replied with, Not quite yet, but we can pretend that it’s almost Christmas." When we got outside one child told me that we couldn’t get the bikes out because we need room for the sleds. We got out sleds, shovels and pails. The children took turns pulling each other around on the sleds, made a small snowman, pushed the snow around and scooped the snow using shovels. It was quite exciting!. Bring it on winter, we are ready for you. Kandice, RECE

Drip, Drop, Drip Thursday, November 12,2020 To go along with our colour interest this week, the children explored a drip painting activity. The children used eye droppers and watered down paint. They expressed excitement by saying how cool it was, smiling and gasping. Some children used one eye dropper at a time and some used one in each hand. A few children noticed a bubble form on their paper and would pop the bubble, splatting a little paint on their paper. Since they... were showing interest in the movement of dripping paint, we will continue to use different kind of movements in our art. Kandice, RECE

Rolling Into Friday This morning a child asked me to push him around on the scooters. I tried for a bit but couldn’t do it for very long. We came up with a solution. I put a snow sled on top of 4 scooters that were attached together and a child climbed in. It was a little tricky to pull as the back end was swaying the opposite way. But we ended up having a blast and everyone wanted a turn. Some children sat down in the sled, laid down in the sled or laid on their bellies. They’ve asked if we could do it again this afternoon. Lots of giggles and smiles to end the week! Kandice, RECE
