Rise House International 16.05.2022

Meet Jess. Jess was living on the streets with her infant son while gang wars and violence was occurring all around her. The local @pnh_officiel located her and did everything they could to assist with protecting her and finding her and her son a safe place. They brought her to the office of @hero_rescue (Stacy Librandi Bourne) who then reached out to us to try to ensure that they were cared for. From the moment Jess arrived at our Safe Haven she was a bubble of bright l...ight. Our staff instantly bonded with her and without them asking, she participated in daily chores and assisting with other moms and children that were staying with us. When creating a long term plan for Jess and assessing her interest in our business program, our staff expressed that they did not want her to leave as she became an asset to our team. We are happy to announce that we have offered Jess a position with us. Jess and her son will be remaining at our Safe Haven, but this time they are staying because Jess has a full time position with us. This position includes a salary, shelter, food, medical care and we will be assisting Jess with putting her son through school (if anyone is interested in becoming his sponsor please DM me). None of this would have been possible without the collaboration of multiple organizations coming together to ensure safety for this young mom and her sweet boy. We cannot thank the PNH and Hero enough for having empathy, compassion, and for doing their due diligence and ensuring she was brought to safety during a very chaotic, stressful, and violent time. Too often the police in Haiti receive negative press- we would like to take the opportunity to shine light on this positive impact that they have made. Kudos to those men on shift that night. You most certainly went above and beyond (as well as the staff at HERO). We are so proud of Jess and the women she’s become. She is a fantastic mother and we are so happy that she is part of our team! #teamwork #haiti #pnh #womenempowerment #empathy #compassion

Who’s up for a little fun during these restrictions? On Feb 3rd we will be doing another virtual JAIL OR BAIL! Grab some friends, a spouse, or your kiddos and try to work your way out of Jail together!!! Here’s how it works: - You are live on social media while your friends and family watch you. - You will receive a digital jailbird poster as well as your own personal spot on our website with your set bail amount and instructions on how people can donate to you ... - You must stay in front of your camera until your bail is reached - You cannot eat or drink alcohol unless someone sends you commissary - While you are live - your friends and family can donate towards your bail so you can be freed OR (this is the best part) they can donate in order to make you do a challenge or something embarrassing on camera like do a dance, sing a song, do push ups, cover your face in makeup, play dress up, roll around in the snow, shave your head - or eyebrow- these are just a few of the fun things we’ve had in the past! - Get creative! - Once you’ve reached your set bail amount , you are free! All proceeds raised will go to Rise House International to support their Safe Haven in Haiti. Please send me a message if you are interested in getting in on this fun while raising money to support a great cause!! Thank you to our current volunteers: Dava Robichaud & Yvon Robichaud Meagan Roberts & Jake Giesbrecht Brock McGregor

Christmas is a time for giving. And what better way to give then to give the gift of education and opportunity? Having a hard time buying for someone who’s got it all? How about instead give the gift of giving and sponsor a woman or child in our safe haven in their honour?!!

Rise House International 22.10.2020

Looking for a creative way to give this holiday season? How about preparing a gift basket with your family for women and children in need! Rise House will be hosting a Christmas online auction and we are looking for gift baskets to add to our auction. Each bid on the gift baskets will be going directly to our Safe Haven in Haiti where we empower woman to rise above their current circumstances by educating, training them, and providing emergency shelter. If you and your family are interested in contributing to our cause, please send us a message

For the past decade Rise House (formerly Hime for Help) has worked hard to provide for those in our care. We’ve expanded programming beyond caring for needy children, into building capacity in families to rise out of poverty. Our safe haven services allow women to escape difficult domestic situations and find safety for themselves and their children. We’ve celebrated successes of graduates of our business training program as they start new lives and become self-sufficient. Wi...th success, often comes challenge. Haiti is no stranger to disaster. COVID-19 is another in the long list of challenges faced by the Haitian people. Along with significant in-country challenges presented, COVID-19 has put overwhelming pressure on our fundraising efforts. We no longer can rely on our traditional fundraising in person events that made up nearly 60% of the funds needed to support those we care for. Hope remains. Our staff is dedicated, the women and children are resilient, and our supporters’ hearts are big. We’re reaching out to raise funds to ensure we can continue to provide food, water, and care at our centre over the coming months. Thanks to everyone for your past support. We’re proud we’ve made it this far together and we know better days are on the horizon. See more
