At River City Custom Bowstrings we use top quality string building materials like BCY HALO which makes for bulletproof end loop serving. If you are buying strings from larger companies which offer varied pricing they are likely using cheaper materials #bowstrings #custombowstrings #bowhunting #bowhuntingbc #archery #archerybc

Did you know that white serving thread appears translucent when put under tension? This allows the string colours underneath to be visible which, with today’s bows that have a large amount of serving to protect the bowstring from aggressive cams, can cover most of the bowstring and cables. Consider ordering white serving next time, it will make those strings pop!
Here’s a nice neutral Camo colour scheme, teal, buckskin and brown, blends well with the Hoyt camo pattern. #custombowstrings #hoytarchery #bowstrings #bowhunting

When To Change Those Threads!?! A common bow maintenance question that comes up is how often should I replace my bowstrings. This may seem like a simple question to answer but it depends on several factors. The general rule of thumb is strings should be replaced every year or sooner depending on useage. This doesn’t make sense for someone that shoots infrequently and the bow sits in a case the majority of the year. In this situation a bowstring set can last many years. F...or most shooters the answer will be much sooner. Bowstrings are subjected to stresses each time they are shot. The individual string fibres are placed under stress from each shot, they are weakened at points where a release is attached to the string. For an archer that shoots weekly or even daily(we all know someone that does) it may be advisable to replace your strings several times per year. Also areas where strings pass over aggressive cam lobes can shorten bowstring life, sometimes with no sign of wear on the servings. String servings can wear at points of stress where arrows are attached to the string or at a D loop or where a release is connected to the string. When hunting, abrasions from brush or rocks can chafe or cut string stands or serving. Keeping your strings well waxed is probably one of the best things you can do to extend their life. Keeping your bow in moderate climates is also recommended as high heat such as a vehicle during a hot summer day with UVs pounding down is a recipe for disaster. Inspect the bowstring servings often and repair them if they get cut or come loose. A bowstring breaking at full draw can not only be shocking it can also damage expensive bows and accessories or expensive arrows or worse yet injure you or someone else. Why ruin the hunt that you planned all year or your favourite 3D shoot or competition. Make replacing your bowstrings part of a yearly investment in your bow. You’ll get more enjoyable hours of quality shooting time and the bonus of chosing some funky string colours!
River City Custom Bowstrings is saddened by the cancellation of the Wild Sheep Society of BC's Sheep Show in Kamloops. We planned on providing some string sets for them to auction off at the show, however, we understand the reasons behind the cancellation. To do what we can to help we would like to auction off two complete sets of custom made bowstrings to the two highest bidders. The funds will be submitted to the association for their continued work putting sheep on the ...mountain! www.wildsheepsociety.com You can submit your bid on this post and it will close on Saturday, March 21, 2020. Please refer to our website at www.rivercitystrings.ca to check out the different services we provide and chose colour schemes etc. Good luck and thank-you for the support! ***This auction is not sanctioned by or affiliated with Facebook in any way.
Zero peep rotation! Installed, locked and loaded!
When you’re inspecting your strings and cables look for loose serving especially in exposed areas like buss cable yokes.
Here’s an example of a string that has been worn by a tight lobe on a cam. Definitely needs replacing.
One of the best ways to keep your bowstring looking like new and extend the life is to apply bowstring wax on a regular basis especially if you’ve been on a multi day trip or in adverse weather. Apply the wax in a thin even coat especially on areas that appear to be wearing more ie. string dampeners. Pinch the string between your fingers and run them up and down the string to work the wax into the strands. Reapply if needed and you’re good to go!
I am pleased to announce that we are up and running and open for business! Visit our company website for more information and ordering details or give me a call at 2502039322.
