To say this has been an exciting week in the Learning Commons would be an understatement. We were able to take the children on a adventure! The kindergarten to grade 3 students hopped aboard the Polar Express for an exciting train ride. Conductor Mr. Hackett enthusiastically punched each ticket before students could "ride" the train to the Library ("ALL ABOARD!"). Once there, the wonderful guidance team, Mrs. Primmer and Mrs. Billard-Penney served up delicious cookies and ho...t chocolate before the students were whisked away to the North Pole! Mrs. Monk, Mrs. Fillier, some helpful grade 6 students and I then joined Mr. Hackett and performed a reader's theater of this beautiful story. The Learning Commons was on wheels! (get it!?) Please ask your child about this experience as I am certain it was a memorable one. Personally, it was one of my favorite activities to date. It was truly magical to ride the Polar Express with the students of Riverside Elementary. A huge thank you to all the staff that got on board (haha - get it?!) and made this possible. It's been an absolute pleasure working with everyone on this project. In the words of one of the kindergarten students, "this made my heart feel soft". Happy Holidays, Ms. Prince
