For Blanche The staff of Riverview Vet Clinic are sad to announce the loss of one of our own. Over the last 8 years, many of you have come to know Blanche as one of her very favorite places to be was on the front desk in a box bed. Her gorgeous white fur just begged to be caressed, but under that beauty was a strong independent woman who really enjoyed her personal space! ... Blanche came to us about 8 years ago. Somehow, despite her handicaps (Blanche was deaf and had very poor eyesight), she survived being lost and alone in the wilderness. She was found in the river valley, starving and near death. While her chances weren't good, we wanted to give her a chance.... we put her on IV fluids, started her on calorie dense gel, and crossed our fingers. Within 2 days Blanche was eating like a champ, gaining weight and looking like she would choose life! From that time on, Blanche thrived. She was never a fan of other animals, lashing out with a well placed claw if anything four legged (and sometimes two legged) got too close! She was easily startled but if you approached slowly and let her know you were there, she loved to be doted on. Unfortunately over the last couple of years, Blanche developed a thyroid condition and recently her kidneys began to fail, and today we made the difficult choice to say goodbye. Life lessons From Blanche 1. Don't let your handicaps slow you down 2. Impeccable grooming is imperative 3. Personal space is a right, not a privilege 4.keep your friends close, and smack your enemies 5. Food dishes are for Losers! 6. Clinic chairs are Blanches.... but she might let you sit on one.... on the edge.... as long as you don't move. 7. Computer desks are Blanche's 8. Sleep when and how you want. 9. Tolerate what you can and bite what you can’t R.I.P. Blanche The clinic won't be the same with out you. #rainbowbridge #rvcfamily

When COVID started we had to postpone annual vaccines for a month or two. This created a bit of a backlog of pets needing vaccine appointments. Now that we are able to offer annual vaccines and check ups, we are doing our best to accommodate them, as well as care for the sick and injured pets that have more time sensitive issues. We are still, however, operating on a reduced staff, reduced hours schedule. To help us out, we ask that you plan a couple weeks in advance for vac...cine appointments so we can ensure we are able to see everyone in a timely manner. We are booking vaccines 2-3 weeks in advance. We appreciate your understanding in these times. . . . . . #rvcfamily #annualcheckup #vaccines
**SERVICES UPDATE** We would like to thank all of our clients for their understanding during the COVID-19 situation. As of June 1st we will be accepting annual vaccination appointments again!... We believe that vaccines are important to your animals health and we want them to be fully protected since Alberta has started easing restrictions. We are still curbside only and have reduced hours. Please call the clinic to book for our next earliest appointment. . . . . #serviceupdate #rvcfamily #annualcheckup

**Service update** We understand that trimming your pets nails is super important but that it can be stressful or difficult for you to do on your own. Our nail trim appointments aren't as available as pre-COVID but, we have decided to open up a specific time each week for booking nail trims! We will be booking nail trim and anal gland appointments between 3:30-4:00pm Wednesday afternoons. ... We believe that nail trims are essential to your pets health but we are also asking for your understanding and patience so we can still ensure our staff and clients health. This means that nail trim appointments will be booked by appointment only and they will need to be prepaid at the time of booking by e-transfer or credit card over the phone. Please note that these appointments will be strictly nail trim and anal glands. Any other or additional concerns will need to be booked seperatly. For more information or to book an appointment please call the clinic during business hours.
