Time in nature is time well spent. Trail Trip: Little Qualicum Falls’ 1-hour loop around upper and lower falls. When starting at the parking lot, we recommen...d walking on the trail that leads to the lower falls first. Once you reach the lower falls, you’ll cross over a wooden bridge and start walking back up towards the upper falls. Along the way, you’ll find beautiful viewing platforms, picnic spots and plenty of scenic views. : @david_crombie & @jarrodevans

Postcard-worthy views from Rathtrevor Beach. It’s no secret that Rathtrevor Beach is one of our favourite places to relax. Spend the day biking the trails, s...earching the tidal pools for sea life and swimming. There’s even a campsite on Rathtrevor in case you never want to leave. : Spencer Mengual - Royal LePage Nanaimo Realty

Wow!! This is AMAZING!! Little Western Toads and their big migration are a HUGE story in Spider Lake Provincial Park. We get lots of questions and we need visitors to be careful not to trample them both in the water and out. Even though this might not be Spider Lake it’s exactly what we witness each year. Nature is SO cool! https://youtu.be/5S-lZtE1J6M

Update: the gate has been re-opened today, Saturday August 22, but please continue to watch out for our amphibious friends The tiny Western Toadlets are migrating from the lake to other areas. The parking lot and access road are areas where the toadlets have a high death rate due to vehicle traffic. So temporarily the gate is closed but you can still enter the park on foot. Please please watch where you step...the toadlets would say thank you if they could.

Many creatures use the magnificent green spaces of Provincial Parks. As visitors, we should always be prepared for wildlife encounters. If you see wildlife keep your distance and respect their space. This black bear was more than happy to move out of the area when it realised there was someone on its trail.

One of the best things about living in Parksville Qualicum Beach is never being more than a few minutes from forests and waterfalls. We highly recommend walking through Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park and taking a moment to admire the power of the falls. : @jamesincomox

Did you get out to a park in the rain? Our staff were busy as ever but they all agreed the rain was good for the parks. We love our wet coast! . . . Emillie@SpiderLake
