Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s), Starting Monday, October 19, 2020, there are changes at Rochester School. Mr. Yeaman has accepted a position at Division Office in Athabasca, so he will no longer be the friendly voice answering the phone and greeting you and the students in the school office. Instead, Mrs. Breitkreutz will be spreading her cheer in the office chair. Although we are sad to see Mr. Yeaman go, we are happy for him in his new adventure and wish him the very best. We a...re also excited that Mrs. Breitkreutz is filling the position as she has a deep heart for Rochester School. Along with changes in the office, Mrs. Elgert and Ms. Levesque are both taking on some of the roles Mrs. Breitkreutz had with respect to Levelled Literacy Intervention and the Nutrition program. Thank you for being flexible and willing to take on new challenges! Even though we are experiencing some changes, there are many aspects that remain the same. We remain focused on the education and wellbeing of all our students, developing them with respect to academics as well as social and emotion wellness. Parent/Teacher Interviews will be taking place on Thursday, October 22, 2020 by teleconference this year due to Covid-19 restrictions. Conference Manager is now open for parents/guardians to book an appointment with their child/ren's teacher. On World Teacher Day it is an honor to recognize the teachers in my life, past and present, and in particular the teachers in Aspen View Public Schools. I am in...credibly proud of the work that Aspen View teachers do in their schools and their communities to inspire young people and shape the future. My goal continues to be to provide the supports to enable students and teachers to excel. I also want to recognize the supporting cast in Aspen View that allows teachers and students to achieve. This includes support staff, division office staff, custodians, bus drivers, student services consultants, maintenance and technology staff. The support they provide is essential, valued and appreciated. I encourage each of you, on World Teacher Day, to reflect on those teachers who influenced you, or teachers who you know are making a difference in the lives of children today. Reach out to them with a word of thanks or gratitude. Not only will it make their day, but spreading positivity enriches our own lives.
