The Medical Equipment Society provides a very important service to our community. Take a few minutes to complete the survey to indicate your support for the services they provide. Your 3 minutes could help ensure funding that will allow the MEL Society to keep their doors open to serve the mobility needs of those injured and aging in our community. Without their services a trip to Red Deer, Edmonton or Calgary will be needed to acquire the equipment that will help you manage any mobility issues. Please share their post with as many people as possible

35 years have passed in what seems like a blink of an eye. Bill and I moved to Rocky Mountain House April 15, 1985, to open Rocky Physiotherapy Clinic, not knowing anyone. We were young, keen, and full of energy and enthusiasm. The local doctors (all of whom have now retired) and the entire community welcomed us with open arms. Over the years our dream grew and evolved into a centre that offered a wide variety of natural health options including acupuncture, natural supplemen...ts, essential oils, flower essences, hypnosis and so much more. A one stop shop, to regain your health naturally. Our reputation for providing solutions drew patients from across Canada and internationally to our clinic. The time has come for us to pass on the baton of our Rocky Physiotherapy business to another young, keen and excited couple Maunik Bhavsar and Himani Shah both physical therapists. In the 2 months we have come to know them during the clinic purchase process, we are confident that they are the perfect couple to build on the 35-year legacy we have created. They have huge hearts and a vision to expand the clinic services. Hours of service will increase to 6 days a week, adding custom orthotics, IMS (IntraMuscular Stimulation), custom braces, Shock wave therapy and so much more to the current services. Janelle Van Heeren continues to provide part time hours. Sherri Forester will continue to welcome you at the front desk and keep the clinic running smoothly. Not wanting to end her 40-year career quite yet, Carla will continue to see acupuncture patients part time as well. We know that the Rocky community will give a warm welcome to both Maunik and Himani, as you did for us when we came to Rocky at a similar age and stage in our professions. Bill and I have purchased our dream canoe and a travel trailer so we can explore our vast country and are looking forward to the freedom to spend more time with our 4 children and 3 grandchildren. We have a deep passion for helping others through our Young Living Essential oils business, and now have more time to devote to this. Our roots run deep in the Rocky community and it will remain our forever home (we may escape during the winter though ). We would like to thank the many medical professionals we have collaborated with over the years, to the staff at the hospital, medical and dental clinics, and to the thousands of patients we have had the honour to partner with on their journey to optimal health. It has been a wonderful ride! Welcome Maunik and Himani. The stage is yours!

Hello everyone, just wanted to update you all on our status at the clinic. We are opening next week (May 12th) to take appointments, most of them are filled with people who were waiting for appointments but we have a few left and will be booking into the coming weeks. Things will be different for the foreseeable future as we will be following the guidelines of our professional college and the provincial health guidelines to help keep our clients safe and staff safe as well. ...This means we will have less appointments available each day to limit the number of people in the clinic in order to maintain social distancing rules. We will be doing full wash downs of all beds between patients and frequent cleaning of high touch surfaces such as door handles and any equipment used during treatment. Our staff will be wearing masks and other PPE as needed depending on the treatment provided, to keep our clients and staff safe and healthy. We ask that you stay home if you have signs/symptoms of Covid 19 or if you have been in close contact with anyone that has had covid 19 and we will get you in when it is safe to do so. If you do not feel comfortable coming into the clinic we can still offer physiotherapy visits through virtual video visits. Call us with any questions you may have. Our community has done a fantastic job of keeping our numbers very low and we want to do our very best to keep it that way while we help you to get moving and feeling better! Give us a call if you have questions or need to book an appointment. Looking forward to being back in the clinic doing what we love to do....helping you get back to doing what you love to do Cant wait to see you soon! See more

Hello friends! Last week I invited the community to join and learn how to use acupressure and essentials oils for a healthy immune system. In this presentation I taught simple acupressure points for prevention and recovery from illness, and ways to help resolve cold and flu symptoms. Acupressure may seem intimidating to many but honestly, anyone can apply these principles! Also, on my NEW blog, we just added a guided mediation to help promote relaxation during these stressful... times. You can access both of these resources through my NEW website. While youre there, make sure to sign up to my Health Learning Center. Signing in is easy peasy! Visit http://carla-green.com to register/log through the top right corner by providing your email address and a passwordand youre in! Hello All I hope everyone is hanging in there and getting through your days with positive vibes and staying healthy! Now that we are into week 2 of our new normal I thought a post on work station ergonomics might be a good idea. There are many people who are now working from home so setting up those work stations as ergonomically correct as possible to avoid unnecessary neck and back pain is important! Our posture plays a big role in experiencing muscular discomfort o...r fatigue. When considering our posture we also have to think about the location of the computer or device you are working on, the layout of your work station and furniture available. The first thing to avoid is making the couch your work station, your posture wont stand a chance!! Whether you are sitting or standing you want to be able to work in a neutral posture to minimize the demands on our muscles and joints. A neutral sitting posture is described as * neck is upright and over the shoulders (not bent, twisted, or forward) * relaxed shoulders (not slouched or raised) * upper arms hanging vertically alongside the body (not reaching) * elbows close to the body and at 90 degrees when typing * forearms horizontal to the ground * wrists straight (not bent up, down or sideways) when typing * back straight (not slouched) and well supported by the chair * thighs approximately horizontal to the ground * feet flat on the floor or on a foot rest, with the feet at an angle of 90 degrees with the lower legs Below you will find some graphics to help you consider the proper set up to prevent strain while sitting. A few other points to consider when creating a friendly work station are, *place frequently used objects in easy reach *try alternating the hand used for controlling your mouse *take regular eye breaks from your monitor *reduce glare on your monitor (windows, lighting, screen tilt) It is also very important to take small breaks, get up from your work station to change positions and give your muscles a break from sustained postures. Try doing this every 30-60 mins, even a walk around the house. Below are some simple exercises to help minimize the stress on your neck and back from prolonged sitting. I hope you found todays post helpful and I really hope it can help prevent neck and back strain to anyone working at home or still in the office during these stressful days. If you have any questions feel free to ask on this post or send a private message and we will gladly help out as best we can Take care, stay safe and keep moving Amy

Rocky Mountain Physiotherapy and Wellness 14.05.2020

Hi everyone We hope you are all doing well and miss seeing you in the clinic. Today we wanted to reach out and remind you how important it is to keep moving and try to stay active during this time away from your physiotherapy appointments. It is important to get your home exercise program done daily or even two times a day if you can, get out for a walk even if it is a short walk around the block (keeping your social distance in mind of course)... Staying active gives us multiple benefits. It can help decrease pain and I know joint pain and inflammatory injuries make you feel like you may not want to move, but by keeping your body moving you are helping your body to increase its ability to recover and improve symptoms and discomfort. Activity and movement can also help to boost our energy. Being injured can deplete our energy levels which can make you feel more tired but we dont want to create that vicious cycle so lets break that cycle with some movement. Staying active not only gives us physical benefits but mental benefits as well. Boosting our mood is beneficial in helping to decrease pain and motivating us to keep on moving. Activity increases our endorphin release which gives our body a feeling of relaxation and pain relief. We know these are very different and unpredictable times but please know that we are thinking of all of our clients and are here if you need to reach out to us with questions or concerns. Stay Healthy, Stay Safe and remember We Are Born to Move!! Your Physiotherapy Team

I just returned from a trip to Mexico where I was able to safely eat amazing meals that were gluten dairy egg corn soy peanut msg sunflower and safflower free. Eating clean ensures that my autoimmune Hashimotos disease remains in remission. It is not worth cheating and destroying my health. Just because you have food restrictions does not mean you cant enjoy travelling. I can assure you will eat as well or better than the resort guests without food restrictions
