We cannot hold our annual tree lighting event, but ...Santa is going to cruise the streets of Roland on Wednesday December 9th with the support of the Roland Fire Department. Enjoy the drive-by visit from the Big Guy - but please remember to stay socially distanced & with only your family group. Nov 9th 2020 at 15:02 RFD was paged out to a dryer fire at Delmar Commodities. This is a natural gas dryer and the crew at Delmar had it quickly shut off and had the fire pretty much contained when we showed up. Hit a couple hot spots and it was out.

October 13th 2020 RFD was at Roland Elementary school for a little safety demonstration. Discussion was about kitchen fire safety, smoke alarms, and what tools we use as firefighters to put out these fires. The kids always get a kick when we show up for events like this.

How to read civic address as simple as we can make it. The road name reflects how far it is from the US Border or the Manitoba Prime Meridian. The first two digits of the number indicate which road the address is next to and the last three is the distance in metres from the corner. Odd or even tells you which side of the road it's on. For example an address of 27025 - Road 32 N. Road 32 North is 32 miles north of the US Border. 27 indicates it is 27 miles West of the prime meridian. (The Prime Meridian which is mile 0 is the Rosenort highway 422) The 25 tells us it is 250 metres West of that intersection and because it is an odd number it is on the North side of the road. Even numbers are on the South. And even numbers on West side and odd numbers on East side of the road.
