Congratulations to Stephen Lloyd and the crew of the Saltwater Hunter on winning the 2019-20 Lockeport Area Largest Lobster Contest with a 13.5 lb. lobster sold... to UGO Fisheries Ltd. on March 9, 2020. Mother's Day will be here in less than a week. Here are some great ideas for celebrating this special day.

As of Friday, the following restrictions have been lifted, providing physical distancing rules of keeping two metres apart and not gathering in groups of more t...han five remain. -Provincial and municipal parks and trails in the province are allowed to reopen, although playground equipment will continue to be off limits. - Sportfishing will be allowed from shore or boat, but fishing derbies are not allowed. -People can attend boating, yacht or sailing clubs for the purpose of preparing boats for use. -Nova Scotians will be allowed to use and visit community gardens, and garden centres, nurseries and similar businesses can reopen. -Golf driving ranges may open, including those at golf clubs, but courses must remain closed. Golf clubs are allowed to perform necessary maintenance and preparations for opening. -People can use their cottages. This is restricted to one household unit at a time, and travel must be directly to the cottage and back. The province says travelling back and forth from cottages to primary residence is discouraged. - Provincial and private campgrounds remain closed but can perform necessary maintenance and prepare for opening. An exception is recreational vehicles parked year-round at private campgrounds, which can be used following the same rules as cottages. -Drive-in religious services are allowed, as long as people stay in their cars, parked two metres apart, and there are no interactions between people in cars and others. -Beaches in the province will remain closed for the time being, including beaches that are located inside provincial and municipal parks. The province says they are developing a phased plan to further lift public health restrictions, and the timing of each phase will be determined by the result of the easing of restrictions. This is similar to New Brunswick and P.E.I., which have already begun easing public health restrictions. - Fire ban is still in effect until May 15th Provincial State of Emergency has been extended to May 17th

Roods Head is a happening place this week. We had campers in all weekend for the Sea Derby and some are still there. Tomorrow (Tuesday) there is a Bike Trek leaving Roods Head at 10am to go to West Head and return (ride will take place on public roads). Then on Thursday evening there's a party in the Park. Hope you all can make it.

Our Clean Leadership crew has the park looking better these days and we want to make sure people come to check it out. We're having a party on August 15 and we hope you can make it. Local entertainers have stepped up to play music, we'll have a barbeque on the go and fun for all ages. It's all free, so plan to attend.

Harmony Bazaar Festival is just around the corner on July 26 and 27 and we have our first two tent sites booked. There's still lots of room for tents and a limited number of RV electrical hook-ups. Call 902-656-2565 or 902-875-6070 to reserve a space.

Anyone visiting Roods Head these days will see a few changes. Nova Scotia Power has cut a swath along their power line from the right hand side of the park entrance straight out to the edge of the cliff by the salt water pumping station. Also, the rail where RV's can plug in is deteriorating and it is clear that we will have some work to do around the park in the spring. If you have an interest in the park and would like to pitch in with this and other projects, please let us know. The old saying "many hands make light work" really is true and we'd love to have your help.

It may be a little stormy today, but the forecast says it will ease off this evening, so be sure to try to get out for our Active Transportation session tonight... in the Rec. Centre. We start at 6:30 p.m., but feel free to come by later if that works for you. We expect to be done by 8:30 p.m. We would really appreciate hearing from you. See more
