Last night, after 58 years Roseland Bowl has closed its doors for good. Owners and staff of Roseland want to thank all of our customers, league bowlers, friends and family for making the many years at Roseland filled with fun, laughter and happiness. Congratulations to Connor and Hailey for your big individual wins at the Spring Master Youth. Connor High single flat 221 and Hailey High single POA +50, Congrats to both teams that competed. Both were plus for the day

Congratulations to our Junior and Senior youth doubles teams who won gold at Mountain Lanes yesterday. Our Senior team of Claire and Jacob were +194 and both are first year YBC bowlers. The Junior team of Leah and Tyler were +125 and this is a first gold for Tyler during is YBC career, Our Bantam team of Ellysha and Hailey, although they finished with a positive score it wasn't enough to medal in that very high scoring division. Off to provincials in April.

Great job Roseland Bowl YBC, we did awesome yesterday at Echo Bowl. Andrea Shenton won the junior girls gold medal and will be off to provincials. Hayley Verrall and Aaron Cox won the silver medal for the Senior girls and Bantam boys, All of our other bowlers, although they did not medal bowled great. There were a lot of smiles, high fives and even the budding of some new friendships. An all around great day for Roseland

They will makeup the ladies half of the provincial team competing in November at Dickson Bowl in Cambridge. All leagues are in full swing at Roseland Bowl, there is still room in most leagues for new bowlers if you are looking for one. Our youth have started the tournament season with the Fall Master Youth. Roseland kids did well again earning a bronze team medal and an individual high single medal for one of our bantam boys. For the kids, we have a great program for them too. YBC (Youth Bowling Canada) is 4 leagues for kids 4-19 yrs, It runs Saturday mornings from September - April. YBC offers certified coaching and opportunities to participate in tournaments in the Burlington and Hamilton area, as well as the chance to compete at provincial and national levels. Here we go Roseland fans, summer is coming to an end but don't be sad, Roseland Bowls youth and adult leagues are soon to be starting up. All leagues are open to both seasoned veterans and brand new upstarts.

Congratulations to all of our YBC seniors that bowled in the Master Senior on Sunday. Many moved on from the qualifying rounds but although we had no winners, everyone had a great time and did well.

The next step for the YBC kids for 4 Steps is Provincials. The junior girls will be in Hamilton at Sherwood Centre and the Seniors will be at NEBS Funworld in Oshawa on March 1

What an amazing weekend for the Roseland Bowl YBC kids. Sunday was the zone round to the 4 Steps to Stardom tournament. Our bantam and junior teams bowled first. The Junior Boys held their own against some tough competition and made us proud with their sportsmanship and skills but fell short in the end. Our your Bantam Boys team held strong and walked away the bronze medal, Our Junior Girls composite team (Roseland and Mountain girls) let their experience guide them to th...e gold, holding first place for the entire tournament. In the afternoon was our Senior girls team and the Senior boys composite team (Roseland and Waterdown boys) Both girls and boys were in tough, bowling against some very strong teams and it came down to the last game for both. Both teams fought hard in that last game and came away with the Gold medals. There were 11 points difference between first and third for the boys and 9 points between gold and silver for the girls. Wow what a busy few weeks at Roseland. Our kids with the YBC have been dealing with a hectic few weeks of tournaments. Our 4-steps started things off with gold for our Junior girls; Erica, Andrea, Nicole and Leah. Senior girls took a close silver; Jordan, Hayley, Jaclyn and Amanda and Shawn took silver with the Senior boys composite team. The next weekend our Senior all-stars took first place in the Zone F all-star league and Hayley and Alicia got silver in the doubles tourney. Last weekend Kim, Nathan and Michelle, took the gold at the Spring Master Youth tourney. WOW! Provincials for the Juniors are Sunday at Bowlerama StoneyCreek and the Masters team go on to Provincials in Toronto in March. Also a big good luck to Shawn and Ryan who are bowling in the Ontario Winter games tomorrow in Midland. Exciting times at Roseland!

A big congratulations goes out to the Zone E Youth Challenge teams. They made a great showing at the Provincial tournament yesterday at Neb's in Oshawa. The girls team and mixed teams place 3rd in their divisions and the boys team place 2nd overall. The boy's team will be going to the Winter games in Midland in February. The top 3 boys and 3 girls during yesterday's tournament are chosen to make up the Southern Ontario National team and Zone E will have 3 bowlers on that team and 2 are from Roseland Bowl. An extra congrats to Hayley Verrall and Shawn Barrow who will represent Roseland on the National team. The National Championships are on March 26-29 at Sherwood lanes in Hamilton.

Congratulations to all the Roseland Bowl seniors and Masters who competed in the Master Senior Tournament yesterday at Neb's in Oshawa. The seniors and their master partners; Shawn and Roger, Lisa and Kelly (from Neb's), Hayley and Harry (from Toronto), Ryan and Andrew and Jordan and Dawn bowled a 6 game Scotch Doubles qualifier with the top 32 teams in scratch and POA moving on to the Match play playoffs. Lisa and Kelly and Ryan and Andrew moved on. After some hard fought games Lisa and Kelly made it to round 3 but lost a heartbreaker. Congrats to you both. Ryan and Andrew fought hard and were named POA tournament champs! As a first tournament win for Andrew, he won a Master's tournament ring and Lisa, Ryan and their masters won cash prizes. COngratulations to all!

How often have you thrown a shot, or even witnessed someone throw a shot, and there is always a reason why such a bad shot was taken? My guess is too many to count. Here is a Top 10 list of my favorite excuses I have heard through many bowling centres; 1) The ball slipped out of my hand (Has happened, usually a bad shot though) 2) My shoe stuck (Another valid excuse at times, but have seen bowlers looks for mysterious sticky spot)... 3) I pulled a muscle (that quickly heals after a strike) 4) It is clearly the balls (than changes them often through the event, only to have same result) 5) The Lanes suck (while everyone else is shooting lights out) 6) I bowl better when I am drunk (No explanation needed) 7) I let them beat me (Good cover up to a bad loss) 8) I don’t like that pair of lanes (I always love the pre-excuse) 9) I didn’t get enough practice ( Not sure your bad game would have been saved by extra balls in practice) 10) Don’t hit my hands too hard, I have to bowl Singles (During team play at the Open. Great teammate!)
