Last week Rossmere Country Club was fined under the provincial health act. This fine was based on the perception from the inspector that our food & beverage operation was open for business. Rossmere Country Club closed the Food & Beverage operation two days prior to the November 2nd mandated closure and hasn’t been open since. We have operated our business very conservatively all season in respect to the Covid-19 pandemic. In no way would we ever try and jeopardize our member...s or guests health. We limited players on the golf course, wore masks and limited seats in our dining room based on health regulations throughout the season. The club has spent over $17K on PPE, signage and staff training since March and will continue to spend more money to make sure our staff and management are comfortable servicing our customers. Last week, BDO (Auditors) worked in the building completing our year-end Audit. The Pro Shop Staff worked in the Pro Shop and Mel and Scott in the Office. This led the inspector to believe we were open for business based on the number of cars in the parking lot. When we add on the number of dog walkers and park and ride cars in the parking lot, it looks like the facility is open. We attempted to clarify this position to the inspector during their visit. The food and beverage operation is, and remains closed, however the pro shop and office staff are still in the building every day, albeit in a limited capacity. This is allowed under the current restrictions and we have not wavered or broken any rules set forth by the government. We are closed to the general public. We will be appealing this matter. In the meantime, we will continue to operate under the Code Red guidelines set forth and continue to be closed until further notice.

The Manitoba Government announced that the Winnipeg region is moving to the critical red level of the pandemic response beginning Monday, November 2. In lieu of this news, Rossmere Country Club will close at the end of day 10/30/2020. We hope this closure is temporary and case counts move down to manageable levels. If you require access to the building please use the front door as all other entrances will stay locked.
