Jacob has come along way from go karts, junior micro sprints, 500 open sprint karts and now pro late model stock cars. We're all looking forward to his next challenge in 2021as a family and race team. Stay tuned for sponsor announcements over the off season as we prepare to race the late model and a new 500 open on the dirt.

Jacob Tests Pro Late Model Stock Car After a tough week on and off the track , Jacob had his day brightened with a phone call offering a test for a spot on a late model race team for 2021. Our day went great and Jacob managed to turn about 75 laps in the car learning every session and getting used to the race car, track and power.... The big surprise of the day was seeing his old man slide into the seat and take it out for some easy memory lane laps . Jacob has the ride and we will be bringing updates over the off season on our schedules for both the pavement late model and his dirt 500 open .

Sept. 15 Championship Race Well I'm a little late posting our race update from September 15th, the final points night at little Middleton Speedway for our 2020 championship. Our family has lost a dear friend and major sponsor for Jacob's racing team this past weekend. Burlington Mr Transmission owner Richard Ennest was killed at a local drag strip this past weekend when a race car went out of control in the pit area and ran him down.... My family is dealing with the grief and shock of this tragic accident and will not compete this Friday in the open invitational race at Middleton Speedway. The race itself was going to decide the 2020 track champion with Jacob trailing Scott Chesterman by only five points. We managed to qualify third out of 17 outlaws trailing Chesterman by only .006 seconds. Unfortunately our night ended before the first lap was completed of the qualifying heat race when Jacob got loose, hit a rut and caught the front straightaway Wall bending up his ride beyond repair. He made the best of what we could and repaired as much as we could, but the kart was just not competitive in the feature . Jacob give it a valiant try but could not overcome the handling woes and eventually was caught up in another wreck ending our night in tenth place. Our 2019 track champion was disappointed being the runner-up this year but after winning three feature events in only his second year in this class and coming home second in the championship, I'd say the kid did a pretty good job. His hard work has paid off as he straps into a late model pavement stock car to test for a team for next season in the next couple of weeks. We will make an announcement in the weeks to come with all the details of next year's plans for our outlaw Kart team and Jacob's new challenge driving for a new team behind the wheel of a full-sized late model stock car. On a closing note, I'd like to remind our fellow race fans who like myself have been strolling the pits of race tracks for decades, that our sport is dangerous on and off the racetrack , RIP Rich, you'll always be in our thoughts and part of our team.

It's with great sadness that I had to say goodbye to my friend and employer Richard Ennest, owner of Mister Transmission Burlington. He was killed at the race t...rack this past Saturday after being hit by an out of control race car. He was a father of 3, loving husband and great friend to so so many people. His great smile, positive attitude towards life and unmatchable support for all who needed it will never be replaced. I'll miss you my friend . See more

September 1st Little Middleton Speedway Last week's wreck caused alot more damage then first thought but , we managed to get it all. It took the time trials and 1st heat to sort out the handling problems and then he was ready. Starting 7th on the grid, it didn't take long before he was hunting the lead from Holly Porter and took it with a great move up her inside. ... Jacobs restarts were perfect as he consistently pulled 3 to 4 lengths on 2nd and drove away for his 3rd feature win of the season. Only 2 to go and Jacob and Scott Chesterman are poised for a battle with single digit points separating them. Good luck to both these drivers...see ya next Tuesday , See more

Little Middleton September 8th Rain, rain, mud then more rain! Well folks we didn't get to race this week and with only one race left, the points battle for the championship is down to single digits. Looks like it's going to be an old fashioned shootout for all the marbles next Tuesday night.... Will Jacob win his second championship or will it be someone else? Either way, it's been a great year and exciting to watch. With an average finish of third or better and three feature event wins, Jacob once again has proven to be a tough champion to beat and it's not over yet. Stay tuned for all the results after next Tuesday's final race. See more

Little Middleton August 18 Back on track this week. Cooler temps and hotter racing as new teams continue to get going. First up, thanks to Kevin Miller from N...itroman Media for taking pictures this week and posting them up on Facebook and also a link here. A shout out to new Beginner Zayden Miller who joined the ranks following in the footsteps of Keidrick Miller who joined just a week earlier. With Sebastian Powless moving up to Box Stock, the battle for first has shifted somewhat to Melville DosSantos who won the first two races and Riley Mercer who grabbed the feature win and set a new track record in the process. Another big Hallelujah goes to Skye Giles who not only got third in each race, but lapped the remainder of the field in the feature which means not only is she going fast but she has also honed her passing skills. Box Stock had a good turnout with 11 racers trying for glory. Heat one went to Aubry Smith followed closely by Chance Kotar and the two thought they were going to repeat in the next race but a last lap wreck took the two out. This left Kianna Teal very happy to go from third to first and take the win. The two were a little wiser in the feature as they worked their way through the pack and again found themselves wheel to wheel but this time , both finished a fraction of a second apart in 1st and 2nd. Hayden Nanticoke stayed on track this week in the feature for a strong 3rd. Aubry, Kiana and Chance went home with top points for the night. A benefit of a three race average is one bad race does not totally ruin your results. It's going to take a calculator to figure out the Champion in this group for 2020. Open Division, put on a show with 18 teams in attendance, but in the end , the night could be summed up with "Jacob Ross" . Traction was limited and drivers had to really search and feel for how much power could be hooked to the ground. If their right foot and brain were not working together, they were going to have a bad night. Ross found the balance best and set fast time in qualifying. We ran three heats with the first being won by Tyler Powless, the second by Jacob Ross and the third by Paige Smith. Tyler and Paige are starting to win heat races which means it won't be long before we see them up front in features. Sigh, more drivers I can't catch. LOL That brings us to the feature. There's a lot of teams to work through as last weeks winners were buried in the field. With the slicked over track, passing was an act of courage that did not always work out. Still, out of those who started the feature, only 4 dropped out. Anyways, the high line which was not getting used for lack of traction, somehow came in, late in the race and the first to figure it out was Jarrett Nock who shot to the front after Lance Erskine dropped from the lead under caution and then passing Ashton VanEvery . Ross continued to work the bottom and eventually got by both. Scott Chesterman made his way to Nock but got no further. Holly Porter seemed to be able to run high and low but could not improve her position behind Chesterman. They ran out of laps before the order could change any further. Ross in 1st, Nock in 2nd and Chesterman in 3rd. With a smaller field I would be inclined to stop here but lets dig in deeper. Porter 4th, Teal 5th, VanEvery 6th, Burnette 7th, D Chesterman 8th,, P. Smith 9th and Cox 10th. That still leaves 8 teams not mentioned in the feature race. Big group. We are well into the meat of the season with 4 points nights remaining before the BIG wrap up. Remember, each team drops their two lowest scores of the season for Championship results. August 25 is the next race.

August 25 Race Report Well after last week's win we rolled into little Middleton Speedway hoping to repeat last week's success. The track surface was about the same as it was the week before with very little grip making passing a real effort. Jacob started 4th in his heat race and finished second but complained about grip near the end of the race. As we looked over his ride to prepare for the feature and I quickly realized that I had miscalculated on tire wear and had nothing... left for him to race with in the feature event. Starting deep in the field in 14th he had his work cut out for him avoiding 2 close calls and working his way up to 7th when the track suddenly closed off with a big wreck in turn 3 and 4, he almost made it through on the top side but got tagged and spun, then was hit hard by the 87 of Dave Chesterman. He managed to restart his ride and pick up two more spots after the green to come home 4th. The driver side sidebar was crushed right to the frame rail and the rear tire clearance was less than half an inch so we counted our selves as lucky and took home fourth with a smile on our faces. New tires going on for next Tuesday's event and hopefully we're able to put a little pressure on the drivers in the top three. See more

August 18th Little Middleton Speedway race report Well after a 2 week break in the action , everybody was ready for a great night of racing...and they got it ! Before we get into the action, I need to thank two people who have played a huge part in our race teams ability to compete each week . Gord Bennett , owner of Varney and Grand Bend International Speedways and Richard Ennest owner of Mister Transmission Burlington . Gords generosity supplying parts for our team has save...d us more then once and Rich has always allowed me the time to get to these races on time in the middle of the week...thank you boys ! Now let's get to the races, Jacob was focussed and determined the moment he strapped into his ride. The track was tricky and low grip this week and it became clear that throttle control was going to win this thing and not speed. Jacob won time trials then followed it up with a great heat race win and then we made all the changes we thought we needed for the feature event. He started 12th in a field of 18 karts and from the drop of the green he patiently picked his way through the karts on his way to the front. With 5 to go he caught the leader and made a great inside pass to take the lead and stretch it out winning his second feature event of the season. Only four point races left, see you next week.

Aug 4 race recap. Beginners This group is evolving nicely this year but I would like to point out to a team or two that this division is all about learning how ...to race and keeping it fun for some very young drivers. ----- It is not wise for us to use a BIG hammer on these kids every time they make some mistake. BUT, we will use a big hammer on parents for yelling at us because we did or did not think a penalty needed to be assessed to a young racer. Think big picture. They are learning to race. Fun is important for everyone involved. Relax and enjoy the process. Box Stock This week we had three races and three winners. Samantha Ling 61 and Race McConnell 13 each won but in the feature it was Chance Kotar 14 finishing up front followed by always strong Aubry Smith 16 and Haedyn Nanticoke 9h. Beginner Sebastian Powless made his Box Debut and looks like he fit right in even being down on power for the group. Hopefully he can adjust to the 5 hp increase he is about to get. Opens Where to start? Ashton VanEvery 77e started pole and looked like he may not be caught as he ran from the girls. It took a while but eventually Holly Porter, Gabby Darling and Delana Nock hunted him down but in the process VanEvery, Porter and Darling ran away from the group. A couple cautions ruined that lead and the group caught up. Darling and Porter traded spots several times before Darling got by first. While this was going on, Jacob Ross 84 who had started dead last had worked his way up past most everyone including Scott Chesterman. Noel Teal latched onto the train and the three made a charge to the front of the second wave. Before long, the race was being lead by Darling and Porter who were racing each other hard. Chesterman and Ross were doing their best to stay with them. They didn't need to as Porter tried to sweep the outside of turn 4 around Darling who had not left quite enough room to do that and Porter backed out to save her skin but in the process likely took Darlings back end with her which resulted in Darling turning into the wall. I am sure neither planned on that outcome. They were both able to restart from the back. From there , a great race turned into caution after caution as the back half of the field forgot how to drive. The drivers got a lot of practice doing restarts. Eventually Tom Pellizzari, John Smibert and Johnny Miller endured to get into podium position. Teal and Porter, who had moved back up from the back of the field, were right there as well. When the last lap rolled around, Chesterman was in front despite multiple attempts by Ross to steal the spot. Ross actually blew a sprocket crossing the finish line in second and rolled to a stop after the checkers. Tom Pellizzari earned a hard fought 3rd, with Miller and Smibert finishing 4th and 5th. Next race August 11

Ross Motorsport 04.05.2020

August 4th race report Well after last week's disappointing events, we pulled the Varney / Grand Bend International Speedways open outlaw out of the trailer and did one last bolt check on all the new parts installed . Everything ran great and Jacob qualified second in time trials out of 19. Now the heat race turned out to be a little more exciting and electrifying for Jacob then anyone would want or expect LOL.... After starting seventh he quickly moved up to Fourth and then just kind of hung there right to the checkered flag, then we realized something wasn't right. He didn't seem to slow down and came around the front straightaway with the engine revving out of control. The throttle started to stick during the race and stuck wide open coming to the finish line. Jacob spun the kart on purpose and grabbed the coil wire pulling it off the engine. How he had the presence of mind to do all of this in a split second saved the day and the engine, however the shock from pulling the wire was something he wasn't expecting and although funny later, the shock he experienced sent him out of that kart and up the front straightaway, distancing himself from his ride as quickly as he could. He later told me that he didn't know what he was feeling and just wanted to get away from it hahaha. After looking over the kart we realized that the throttle cable was junk and the coil wire was broken, leaving us in a tough spot to try and repair it before the feature race. That's when our competition came to the rescue, Scott Chesterman, Brent Smith and Ken Pellizzari all jumped in and saved the day. Watching all these guys swarm around my kart was clearly a good feeling knowing that these club members look after their own, regardless of how hard they race each other. Now to the feature event, Jacob started dead last with 17 outlaws in front of him and 25 laps to get to the front. It didn't take long for him to find Scott Chesterman about five spots ahead of him and the battle was on with both drivers trading positions and working their way to the front. In the closing laps it was Jacob chasing Chesterman to the finish line in 2nd place, then Jacob came to a grinding halt between turn 1 and 2. He was pushed off only to discover that the rear gear hub had exploded, sending parts flying up into the wing area and jamming themselves in the cage.... I stopped on the way home and bought a lottery ticket lol. A big shout out of thanks goes out to our competitors again for helping us when we were in trouble. See more

Ross Motorsport 19.04.2020

July 28th Race Report Well, this won't take long folks. For the first time in five years of racing outlaw Sprint karts in various classes, our team went home before the first race even started. Jacob went out for the engine warm up and had trouble getting it started well being pushed . The engine finally fired going into turn one after three-quarters of a lap, stumbled then caught and cleaned itself out.... He hit the gas to make sure it was running right and lost his concentration only to find Holly Porter's #1 sitting in front of him waiting to be pushed off. The impact destroyed our rear axle assembly along with a few other parts making it unrepairable at the track and giving us no choice but to load and head for home. It was very disappointing and a hard pill to swallow for us as a team and exceptionally hard for Jacob as our driver knowing that he not only ended his night behind the wheel but that he also damaged a fellow drivers equipment that he looks up to and respects. Racing is a tough business and you're going to lose a whole lot more than you're going to win. The key to everything is learning from your mistakes and keeping a positive attitude. Will be back next week ready to go. See more

July 21 Race Report. What a difference a week makes, for the first time this summer there was a breeze and a break from the extremely uncomfortable heat wave at Little Middleton Speedway this pastTuesday. The Chesterman's prepared a beautiful track this week which made the opens more predictable and much easier to keep pointing in the right direction.... Jacob went out for time trials this week and missed the top spot by .006 seconds and then lined up seventh in the first qualifying Heat race. He made it all the way to 2nd and worked the leader over pretty hard but just simply ran out of laps. We decided to leave things alone and lined up 10th in the 25 lap main event. Now the word nervous is an understatement as I paced the back stretch wall waiting for the green to drop knowing that everything in front of him was fast tonight and passing wouldn't be easy. At the drop of the green Jacob went into attack mode and picked off seven outlaws working his way up to third by approximately the fifth or sixth lap of the race. He then had a great battle with the #5 fighting for second with Scott Chesterman who started on the pole this week due to his bad luck last week, just ahead of them . In the end we settled for third and my birthday boy was smiling ear-to-ear. you proved again last night why you're a champion Jacob. You used your head, showed patients and brought home a great finish.... with all your wheels and parts still connected. Hats off to all the drivers, crew and track staff for a great night of racing

Varney international Speedway and Grand Bend international Speedway owner Gord Bennett and Tabitha made a surprise visit to Little Middleton Speedway last night to check out Jacob behind the wheel.
