The last Friday in October, this year 30 Oct, marks the beginning of Remembrance. It is the day we start to wear our poppies and remember the 2,300,000 Canadians who have served throughout our nations history and the 118,000 who made the ultimate sacrifice. With COVID the Legion Poppy Campaign will not be able to be as evident as previous years. Please make an effort to seek them out, make a donation and wear your poppy with pride.

This was originated by the Royal United Services Institute of Nova Scotia. It has an informative read about the current China - India border situation among other links. I had to print the pdf file and rescan it as a jpeg so I hope it came out OK.

Forwarded from my CFMWS e-mail file: It could happen to you Recently one of our staff members encountered a disturbing incident that might have cost her hundred...s of dollars. She received a call from a local area code number that looked like it was coming from CRA (Canada Revenue Agency). A so-called Officer Alex Johnston claimed to be with the Investigations Division of CRA, quoting his badge # as well as a case file number. He claimed that there was an investigation connected to her social insurance number (he had the last 3 digits) and alleged unlawful withdrawals from a number of different banks (none of which were the ones she banks with) and claimed that as a result, there was a warrant out for her arrest. This warrant also included identity theft related to: money laundering and drug trafficking. He provided her with an arrest warrant #. When she challenged him on the allegations and asked to speak with a rep from the RCMP, he had someone (claiming to be a Constable with the local RCMP) call back from a local RCMP phone #, who immediately accused her of these crimes and indicated they would be pursuing criminal charges! She then contacted the RCMP detachment herself who confirmed that this was indeed a very real and elaborate scam to obtain money from targeted victims See more
