A recent post from Nick E. Just got back from a weekend in Lytton BC. Ruddocks Ranch, Onion lake. My best fishing weekend ever in my many years of attempting to get the double digit. Caught a 7.6 lb er on Sunday and a hour later I thought I had my 10 lb fish on as it jumped three feet in the air right in front of me 3 times, then headed for a log, wrapped around it, thought I lost it and magically unwrapped itself. 15 mins later it finally is done running comes to the boat, ...I get it into my LARGE Moby Kamloops trophy net, barely fits, I set my rod down and it flops out! I grab my rod and it’s still on. 2 minutes later I get it in. (Praying to a higher power the whole time) Finally I get it. 8.8 lbs. 29 inches long. Not 10 but I will never forget that fight, and feeling of holding a beautiful 100% wild rainbow. 1st helicopter on site in 30 minutes and then endless planes with fire retardant, countless helicopters dropping water from our lake and now 3 days later tanker trucks non stop drawing water from the lake. Ground crews are still up there but it appears the worst is over. Amazing team work from our forest service crews - thank you so very much as this could have been a nightmare for us here.
