Thursday we launched a pilot program to deliver meals throughout our community. The meals and groceries arrived at the Ryde Co-op just after 4pm. Our team jumped into action, sorted the meals and groceries. Within about 30 minutes our volunteers were ready to go out and deliver.... The meals were on kitchen tables in Ryde by 5pm. Powered by you! The beginnings of a great partnership with Gravenhurst Against Poverty.
How it started....how it's going!
Tonight between 4 and 5 pm we will be making our first delivery of free Gravenhurst Against Poverty frozen meals to 37 people! Thanks to the volunteers who have signed up to help. We will be needing clean bags and boxes, so if you have some to spare please bring them to the Co-op.

The Ryde Community Co-op opened today for the Snowcrest Riders Snowmobile Club's AGM. We had plenty of space to ensure social distancing and protocols for a safe meeting. The Ryde Community Co-op is looking forward seeing our community hub gradually come back to life!... Thank you all for your continued support and patience.
We are grateful to @aplaceforfood and The Sprott Foundation for their generous support of the #GoodFoodAccessFund. Because of you, the Ryde Co-op has been able to provide grocery cards to members of our community who are feeling the impacts of COVID-19. If you are experiencing food insecurity and live in our community, please contact any board member in confidence.

The Ryde Co-op received a nice message from one of the many people we are helping with food insecurity. The funding is from grants related to COVID relief for which we are so grateful. ____________________________ Thank you Ryde Community Co-op for the wonderful gift today! ... Your kindness came at the perfect moment and changed my day for the better. You truly have no idea what this help means to me and to my son as well. I hope one day in the near future I can be a part of the Ryde Community Co-op in some way, shape or form because I would very much like to give back and help to pay it forward. Be well everyone.

We are only weeks away....keep an Eye on the Ryde!
The Ryde Co-op is devastated by the recent sudden passing of our dearly loved, long time board member, Anne Myshok. We will deeply miss her friendship, her wisdom and kindness. Anne dedicated hours of volunteer time to her Ryde and Gravenhurst communities. She was behind the scenes at many Ryde Co-op dinners, working tirelessly in the kitchen. As treasurer of the Co-op, she kept our accounts in order. The Museum and the Barn Quilt trail benefitted from her artistic ability. We will miss you so much dear Anne. At a future date a memorial tree and plaque will be placed at the Co-op in her memory.
This is him today. (Crazy) Bob Beach is recovering and healing well from the burns he suffered in a house fire. He lost his musical instruments, some that have been replaced through the generosity of others including this beautiful harmonica. Made my day to hear him play with a chance to strum my tin can ukulele for Bob. He was smiling, so I guess I did OK. Crazy Bob is not shy and he showed me the grafts and where they were applied to the burns. Amazing work but not for the ...faint of heart. He's healing well and getting really good care. To say Bob's been through a lot in his life doesn't even come close. He is a man of amazing spirit. He talked about how special you and the Ryde, Gravenhurst community are to him. And Bob himself is a well known giver in so many ways. All the best Bob. See you around!

Our Ward 4 councillor, Terry Pilger, has shared this important information: Just letting you know that construction on Barkway Road between Muskoka Road 20 to Merkley will be starting next Tuesday May 19th following the long weekend. Fowler Construction will be the onsite contractor with Planmac Engineering providing quality control and administrative services on behalf of the Town. Signage is currently being developed and will hopefully be installed this week, although with Covid resourcing has been a bit of a challenge. During the construction period the road will remain open to traffic although Please note a large culvert south of the construction zone will require a temporary closure but hoping to provide you with advance notice once a schedule has been developed. Let me know if you have any questions.
The Ryde Co-op Little Free Pantry is now open! Take what you need, or feel free to donate. Please use the hand sanitizer provided. Use at own risk as we cannot monitor who is touching the food.

Yay! We can do our SMART class at home!
Three weeks ago we closed our beloved little building with a goal reassessment of the Covid-19 affect. We have all watched in disbelief as the virus spreads through Provinces, States, Cities, Communities and homes. It is invisible, but it is tangible, for it has touched the entire world. I know that each and everyone in this community has not been untouched by tragedy and heartbreak in their lives. This definitely qualifies on the world stage and at your doorstep. I also kno...w this....we have been embraced by the joy of laughter, of love, of kindness and beauty where we never thought we could see. Time has slowed (or so it feels), and put most of our lives in a holding pattern....... Take this time to embrace the little things that make you happy and squeeze a little tighter... The Ryde Community Co-op doors will remain closed until May 3rd. But....we havent stopped!! Your Board is still working, planning and going forward. How can we continue to Share and stay Social?!.......FOOD!!! YES!!! Food sustains us and brings us together. I have seen all manners of food pictured on Social Media, theres a lot of cookn and baken goinon! Sooo, lets share! Share your favourite recipe from behind your door. Share a short story. Share your strength. Share your love of cooking. Share a photo. We are Building a Cookbook. Join in. Share Share Share Submit online - [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] Or - we are building a Recipe Box - it will be located at the Muriel Fitchett Memorial Garden (the front garden at the Co-op) curbside. Put your submissions in a plastic bag and place in the slot. One more ask....Suggest a Title for our Cookbook. Thank you...... Stay safe and Stay well.
Our Canada 150 tulips are poking up in the Muriel Fitchett Memorial Garden at the Co-op. Just like them, we will rise again!
