Today is Trans Day of Remembrance. Today we remember everyone whose lives have been lost because of transphobia. We encourage folks to take a moment today to think about the ways that we can make our homes, communities and our own ways of thinking and understanding the world, more trans-inclusive. Thank you to BATA and Gender Journey Brant for their beautiful memorial tree that can be viewed at the Brantford Public Library.

We know it's only November, BUT we can't help thinking ahead! December and January can be difficult times, especially financially. Balancing rent, food, bills, and gifts can become more difficult when the timing of cheques gets shifted due to the holidays. Not to mention, there is a pandemic happening (enough said!). Join Nadine and Karley to chat about tips and tricks for balancing your budget, and taking care of yourself during these wintery times. This workshop will be he...ld on Zoom, and requires registration beforehand. Having troubles pre-registering? Send us an email at [email protected] and we can help you get sorted! Today, on October 4th, we take a moment to pause and acknowledge all of the missing and murdered indigenous women and girls across Turtle Island and the families and friends who miss them each and every day. Colonial violence is on-going and that is very apparent when we look at the stats around MMIWG. Not sure how to make a difference? It starts with education- check out the new report by Ontario Native Women's Association (ONWA): Indigenous women’s solutions key to Reconciliation with Indeignous Women (2020) and let us know in the comments what actions you’re going to take to create change!

Beside this image is a quote from Taylor in a white font which reads Today I am wearing an orange shirt to highlight to my friends, family, and colleagues the importance of discussing the impacts of Residential Schools, the ongoing violence of settler-colonialism, and ou...r responsibility to upholding treaties. We need to discuss this in our homes, organizations, workplaces, and communities. We need to do this because survivors matter, and survivor stories matter. Every child matters. In order to say this and mean it, steps towards decolonization like: supporting #LandBack, taking up the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s calls-to-action, and educating our communities about the legacy of residential schools and projects like Save the Evidence need to be front and centre.
