Thilakavadiyar Girls Home Project update. Building will be completed by September 2016. The children will move in October this year. Thilakavadiyar has the funds now to complete. SACHA has donated SL Rs 3,000.000 towards this project. A fine genleman from US is donating SL Rs 1,300,000 to fund the Kithchen & Dining area.Thank you all. SACHA will contribute some money to meet the moving expenses.

Kitchen renovation was completed at a cost of $700. In total you have contributed $13,700 in a short period of time. The girls , cooks and the staff are so happy in a much cleaner enviroment.

On March 18th 2016 the religious ceremony took place at Sampoor Kali Kovil to mark the occasion. Hon. Minister S. Thandayuthapani MPC, Minister in charge for Rehabilitation & Resettlement - Eastern Province presided the event. On that day 18 houses were religiusly handed over to the new owners who were affected and displaced during the civil war. Another 23 houses are at pre-construction stage. These houses are funded by the Tamils living in Canada and facilitated by Canadian Tamil Congrsss and Trincomlee Welfare Association.

Last year SACHA made a small contribution towards these projects. We hope to do some more this year. Please contact us if you want to be part of this. We are hoping to prvide four more sewing machines this year. Special thank you to Dr. Judy Jeyakumar for organizing and managing these projects.

From Canada we have raised $46,521 todate. We will reach our target of $50,000 by April and close our 2015/2016 fund raising campaign. SACHA team like thank you all for your contribution, participation and the generosity. We have already donated $18,000 to Thilakavadiyar Girls Home, Srilanka, $13,000 to Vivekananda Girls Hostel, Kallady, Batticaloa & $5,000 to Vocational Training Project in Batticaloa. At Thilakavadiyar Girls Home, project is on hold due to rain and wet conditions. Balance $14,000 to Thilakavadiyar Girls Home will be sent as soon as they complete the work for $18,000 and ready to continue the work. A SACHA team member will be visiting Batticaloa in March to monitor the progress of all three projects.

We wanted to reach $50,000 and do little more than our original plan. Good news is that we will meet that goal of $50,000 once we do few more breakfast events in April 2016. We will update the progress of current three projects by March end. Due to rain and the wet conditions we are unable to start the fencing work at Thilakavadiyar Girls Home. The balance money will be sent once we are satified with the work in progress for $18,000 sent from Canada and $1,850 from the UK. SACHA will be two years old this month and want to help little more in the Batticaloa region. Can SACHA dream to raise $50,000 and help Thilakavadiyar Girls Home, Batticaloa Mental Health Development Organization & Humanitarian Hands Organization. These three organizations are well managed and supervised in the most neglected rural areas of Batticaloa. They need your help now.
