Taken from Eparchy of Saskatoon website: Season of Creation The Season of Creation is an annual celebration of prayer and action to protect creation. It is celebrated by Christians of all traditions, and the leaders of various churches have encouraged the faithful to participate. The season begins on September 1st, the World Day of Prayer for Creation, and runs through October 4, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology in many Western traditions.... September 1st was proclaimed as a day for creation (World Day of Prayer for Creation, or Creation Day) by Ecumenical Patriarch Dimitrios I for the Orthodox in 1989, and was embraced by the other major Christian churches in 2001 and by Pope Francis for the Roman Catholic Church in 2015. This Years Theme: Jubilee for the Earth Each year, the ecumenical steering committee suggests a theme to unify Christian communities in their celebration of the season. This year, amid crises that have shaken our world, were awakened to the urgent need to heal our relationships with creation and each other. During the season this year, we enter a time of restoration and hope, a jubilee for our Earth, that requires radically new ways of living with creation. Christians around the world will use this period to renew their relationship with our Creator and all creation through celebration, conversion, and commitment. This years Season of Creation is a time to consider the integral relationship between rest for the Earth and ecological, economic, social, and political ways of living. This particular year, the need for just and sustainable systems has been revealed by the far-reaching effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic. We yearn for the moral imagination that accompanies the Jubilee. As followers of Christ from around the globe, we share a common role as caretakers of Gods creation. We rejoice in this opportunity to care for our common home and the sisters and brothers who share it. In celebration of the Season of Creation Fr Basil will be praying an Akhatist for Creation in many parishes in our pastoral districts. Please check the Ituna Sacred Heart Facebook page for times and schedules in the next few weeks.

Dear Friends, Funeral services for Fr. Len have been finalized. On Wednesday, September 30, there will be a public viewing from 1:00-4:00pm with time for people to pray and pay their respects. A limited number of people will be allowed in the church for a short period of time because Manitoba's COVID-19 restrictions limit gatherings to 10 people as of last Friday. This will occur at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church (160 Euclid Ave., Winnipeg, MB) where Fr. Len was pas...tor for many years. This will be followed by a private celebration (again due to COVID-19 restrictions) of the Priestly Parastas service with Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak and the Winnipeg Redemptorist community. Fr. Len's body will be transported to Yorkton, SK on Thursday, October 1. On Thursday, October 1, there will be a Parastas Service at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church (155 Catherine St.) at 7:00pm celebrated by Fr. Michael Smolinski, C.Ss.R., Regional Coordinator and the local Redemptorist community. Space will be limited to 150 people or 30% of the church's capacity, whichever is less (according to Saskatchewan's Places of Worship Guidelines in the Re-Open Saskatchewan plan). On Friday, October 2, there will be a funeral Divine Liturgy at St. Mary's at 10:00am celebrated by Fr. Michael Smolinski, C.Ss.R., Regional Coordinator and the local Redemptorist community. Space will again be limited. Burial will follow in the Redemptorist plot in the Yorkton City Cemetery. O my soul, extol the Virgin Mary, born of a barren womb. Mothers cannot be virgins, nor virgins be mothers, but in you, O Mother of God, both virginity and motherhood were present. Therefore, all the people of the earth, unceasingly extol you.
Together we pray for a successful school year for all. Thank You, O Lord God our Creator, that You deemed us worthy of Your intervention in our studies. Bless our school leaders, parents, and teachers who assist us in recognizing all that is good and true; and bless us with continuing strength and wisdom so that we may carry on our studies for Your greater glory. Amen. #BlessingsForSchoolYear
