Winter is now upon us, and we all know how quickly energy bills can grow this time of year. So, here are 4 easy ways to help cut your home energy bill this winter! 1 Maintain your furnace. Keep an eye on filters for lint buildup, and clean or replace them every three months. Also be sure to schedule a maintenance appointment every 1-2 years. ... 2 Turn down your thermostat. You can save up to 15% on your heating bill by simply turning your thermostat down 4-5 degrees for eight hours each day. This could be during the day while you’re at work, or at night while you’re sleeping. 3 Clean your roof and gutters. Remove leaves and debris from your gutters and spouts. Clogs mean melting ice will seep into your roof shingles which may cause leaks or floods. 4 Keep your windows & doors draft-free. Add storm windows to existing frames, seal them with insulating window film, or you can even try bubble wrap placed onto water-misted windowpanes. Prevent cold drafts from coming under your door with a doorstopper or a rolled-up towel. Hope this helps!
