Hello STJS Families, St. Joseph Catholic School and the Superior North Catholic District School Board continue to monitor the situation with the recent confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Greenstone area. We have continued to work closely with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) to ensure policies and procedures for a safe environment are in place and are being followed.... At this time, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our school and our school remains open. STJS students and staff will continue to follow daily self-screening and wear all required PPE. If you have any concerns/questions or are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms please contact the TBDHU at 1-888-294-6630. Screening Tool for School and Child Care: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/ If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me. We look forward to seeing our students in school next week. Thank you, Kyle Thomson Principal, St. Joseph Catholic School
Come Learn with Us! If your child was born in 2017, they can begin Kindergarten at #SNCDSB in September 2021. https://spark.adobe.com/page/7PVGhEHsS3evh/ As a result of the recent "Stay at Home" order for all Ontarians, we are encouraging families to visit the board website at http://www.sncdsb.on.ca/1-click-register and pre-register via the 1 Click Registration for New Students. Once registration is received, the Principal in your school community will contact you to complete registration details and book a school tour once the current government "Stay at Home" order has been lifted. We are excited to welcome you to Superior North Catholic District School Board and even though the process might look different this year, together we will help you and your child feel confident and excited about starting school.
Lunch bag? Check. Backpack? Check. Extra Masks? Check, check, check #SNCDSB continues to adhere to public health and safety measures that have ensured... schools remain a safe place for our students and staff. Students from Grades 1 to 8 are required to wear masks. Masking requirements are now also in place for outdoor activities where physical distancing is not possible. Students in Kindergarten will continue to be encouraged but will not be required to wear masks. Please send your child with extra masks in their backpacks as they do get wet if they are playing and students sometimes need to change them throughout the day!

Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity to create meaningful discussion about the effects of Residential Schools and the legacy they have left behind. Orange Shirt Day is also an opportunity for Indigenous Peoples, local governments, schools and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come. #OrangeShirtDay #EveryChildMatters #SNCDSB

Every year on Sept 30th, also known as Orange Shirt Day - Every Child Matters, we honour the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools in Canada. Did you know that over 150,000 Indigenous children attended Residential schools? Students between the ages of 4 to 16 were taken away from their families and placed in these Schools, which ran for over 100 years with the last Residential School closing in 1996. Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity to create meaning...ful discussions about the effects of Residential Schools and the legacy they have left behind. Orange Shirt Day is also an opportunity for Indigenous Peoples, local governments, schools and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come. Show your support and share your Orange Shirt Day pictures with us, wearing your orange shirt, scarf, socks anything orange for a chance to win a SNCDSB Prize Pack!!! Send your pictures to [email protected] by end of day September 30th. We'll post all the entries on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and all names will be entered in a random draw. The winner will be drawn on October 1st!
