Desolation Sound Marine Provincial Park is a boater’s paradise at the confluence of Malaspina Inlet and Homfray Channel. In recent years, kayakers like me have enjoyed exploring the islands and coves that make up its unique shoreline of which it has more than 60 km. There are several islands, numerous small bays and snug coves and I have enjoyed the warm waters of the park that are ideal for swimming and scuba diving. Most kayakers and boaters launch their vessels and start ...their adventure from either Lund Harbour or Okeover Harbour Government Dock to access the Desolation Sound Parks. It was on such a trip last year that I tripped on some pebbles exiting my Kayak and gave myself a bloody graze on the knee. Fortunately I was carrying a pack of Saljet with me and was able to clean the wound and dress it safe in the knowledge that I was OK until I got home. Everyone has heard real survival stories in the wilderness at some point. Sometimes these storeis are about things like getting stuck in a blizzard or getting lost when hiking. People just seem to love to hear tales of survival against the harsh realities of the wilderness. The stories are many times helpful because they give the methods that people have used to survive in unfavorable conditions. Our new just for fun competition! Choose your favourite shirt! Howard is a partner in Win Labs, the makers of Saljet6 and one of his passions is shirts. His favorite shirtmakers are Robert Graham and Eton. Robert Graham shirts are usually a little over the top with fabulous fun fabric designs, crazy fabric linings to the neckband and cuffs and sometimes even embroidery.... Eton shirts are a little more conservative, beautifully made but with quirky touches, such as different colored buttons on a white shirt. Maybe this shows two sides to Howard's personality! This week the Saljet team have been in Orlando at a Medline sales conference. It was a great conference, held outdoors as usual, but the temperatures were in the mid nineties, the sun was shining and Annette was looking a little fried! It is always great fun talking to motivated sales people and spreading the Saljet story. We haven't been to Orlando for twelve months and the amount of building going on now and completed since our last visit is mind blowing. We first visited Orlando in 1989 and some of the areas that are now built on we remember as countryside. Of course the downside of any surge in building is the increase in traffic! We visited our 3 favorite restaurants whilst in Orlando, PF Chang's, Cafe Tu Tu Tango and Dakshin, such a great mix of cuisines.
