Have you ever wondered how to find the best Airbnb for an upcoming trip? We all know that it helps to look at the pictures and read the reviews, but what else should you keep in mind? Here at Sam and Glenn’s Airbnb we have a few tips to help you get out there and experience the best that Airbnb has to offer. 1. Think about what you need in a place and make a list of must-haves and priorities. - do you need parking, a private bathroom, use of a kitchen? - where is your idea...l location? Do you want to be downtown, in a quiet area, or near parks or public transit? -how many people will be in your group? Adults? Children? - what is your price range? *Keep in mind that Airbnb will often show you the absolute lowest base rate. What you pay will be more than the daily price that you see. 2. Read EVERYTHING you can about each place to find the best option for you and get the most from your stay. It seems obvious, but many people don’t. When you consider what you want and then look for a place that meets your needs, you’re much more likely to end up with a place you’re happy with! If you’re travelling with a group, ask group members which amenities are most important to them! 3. Don’t dismiss places that are shared with the host or other guests. If you find the right place and the right host it can be an amazing experience. Some of our guests have become lifelong friends! 4. Look for Super Hosts, but keep in mind that Super Host Status isn’t everything! It’s smart to look for positive reviews, but it’s important to understand how the Airbnb rating system works. Airbnb considers anything less than a 5* rating as substandard. Receiving a single 3* review from a disgruntled guest can cause a super host to lose their status, and so can taking time off from hosting whether it’s for family reasons, to do repairs or renovations, or to travel. We are SO proud to be super hosts but we know lots of wonderful hosts who don’t qualify! 5. Check the cancellation policy and use a credit card that offers travel insurance. Airbnb hosts are small business owners who work hard to offer the best stay for the best price that they can. If a guest fails to show up for their reservation, those dates often cannot be rebooked, and the host still has a mortgage as well as utilities, cleaners, and property maintenance staff to pay. Using Airbnb can be a wonderful experience. In addition to saving money on accommodations you have the opportunity to live like a local and really get to know a place in a much more authentic way!
