BREAKING NEWS!! Sandbanks River Country Campground is proud to announce the return of the annual fishing derby on Saturday, July 4th 2020. This summer has brought many challenges to camping and has definitely limited our social events, however, our General Manager, Brad deWolde has taken it upon himself to organize this year's derby. This way he can’t compete and win all the prizes! While keeping everyone's health and safety in mind and practising our social distancing lets... go catch some fish. This year we’re calling it the 2020 Sandbanks River Country Campground Managers Fishing Derby! Sign-in opens at 9am outside the store and the weigh-in is as you catch so bring your big fish by the weigh-in station any time before 4pm. There will be a leader board posted and prizes will be available for the following classes; -Under 16, 1st, 2nd and 3rd biggest fish of any species -Adult Class (16 and older) 1st and 2nd Bass and 1st and 2nd Walleye There is no cost to participate however, you must pre-register before you go fishing. Unfortunately, there will not be an after-derby fish fry. See you all Saturday morning with your life jackets on, six feet apart and a fishing pole in hand. See more

We are excited to announce that as of Friday, June 12 our campground will be OPEN to transient campers. All current COVID-19 Ontario restrictions apply. Groups of people are limited to ten or less, playgrounds and rec hall will remain closed, however, we will be opening our patio and beach (maximum ten people per). Bathrooms and will be open but showers will remain closed. Sandbanks Provincial Park beach will also be open. Be advised of Provincial Park COVID-19 restrictions.... We will be opening to our seasonal campers on Saturday May 16. No public spaces will be open including washrooms or showers. Please ensure you bring sufficient supplies to limit the requirement to attend Picton for groceries. Access will be limited to only the occupants of the site, guests will not be permitted into the park. ... This is amazing news, but we don’t want to accidentally spread the infection to local residents. We are only open to seasonal campers; unfortunately, transient camping is not approved yet.

Welcome to a very abnormal May 1, 2020. As most of you are aware, normally today would be our opening day for the 2020 camping season, but with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic we like so many other businesses are required to stay closed to protect all of our health. We have no information when the restrictions will be lifted, but rest assured the moment the government gives us approval to open, we will be open. As per bookings for transient sites, we have opened up all remai...ning inventory for minimum two day summer bookings. I know many of you are wanting to check on the status of your trailers, we are working on getting direction from both the county and the health unit if we can accommodate this, we will announce something on Facebook once we have clear direction.
