Two more eagles in care, one with trace lead...which means it recovered from a small amount of lead...the other has a hopefully treatable amount. As mentioned in the article, the testing equipment, trained staff, and special medications mean extra expenses. If you can help please go to our website www. sandypineswildlife.org and follow the donate now icon. http://www.napaneebeaver.ca//spwc-vet-tech-sees-rising-tr/

Sending a big thank you out to James Ostler for taking a 350km road trip through Prince Edward County and Maberly to release hatchling turtles that we incubated at SPWC. Turtle releases are done for the year. We have many that hat he'd late, or not yet healed and therefore will be spending the winter with us! We need an electrician to help with a project to make our turtle room safer. With three wires going to each tank (UV light, basking light and heater) , it can be precari...ous. If you are interested in helping contact [email protected].

Hey Everyone . We have a Canada Goose in Lyn (near Brockville), who has an injured leg and needs to get into Sandy Pines as soon as possible. If you or someone you know can help, please call 613-354-0264. Thank you!!

Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre 18.08.2020

Look at our young Virginia Opossum's working hard! We love the way they gather straw in their tails and pack their den with it! Don't forget to bring us your leaves when you rake them! We prefer to use leaves as their bedding, since it is more natural, but straw will do in a pinch! Leaves need to be clean (no litter or pet poop), dry (so they don't go mouldy) and ideally in paper bags (they stay dry and can breath a little in paper) We store the leaves all winter and use them for several months in the spring. Thank you for your support!

It isn't Christmas yet, but this little bird was very happy to arrive at SPWC today! Starving and unable to use his legs properly on arrival, he was still fiesty and full of attitude!! Can you guess what type of bird he is? We rarely see these birds at Sandy Pines so he is a real treat to care for. If you would like to help us care for injured wildlife consider a donation today https://sandypineswildlife.org/?page_id=826 we really need bleach and paper towels right now!
