Replaced the old ugly shelves (forgot to take a before picture) with this wheeled microwave cart. Loving how much bigger it is, and the usable space it provides. Only sad thing, we ruined the top already...take a look at that stain in the last picture Now that I’m pregnant I’m avoiding all those lovely chemicals, so a proper polyurethane finish is outta the picture for now. There’s some scary warnings on some of those wood finishing/protection products... On that note, wou...ldn’t recommend trying to finish your wood projects with sunflower oil...looks nice but provides no protection, haha. #TBT to the shed I built back in 2015. Anyone who knew me then can attest to how much I loved this shed Other than the nails, OSB, insulation, and paint everything was reclaimed or recycled. Back at it after a busy Christmas and New Years! I've been teased many times about this particular piece of furniture. Just to get my goat people call it a "hope chest." I've always been adamant about calling it a blanket box, cause the whole hope chest thing makes me squirm. Nonetheless, here it is in our home six years later and I store my wedding dress in it. Call it what you want ;) This blanket box is made completely out of pine and smells amazing! I laminated a ton of narrower pieces together to make larger solid panels. You can see all the different shades and grains, the darker ones showing the marks of the mountain pine beetle. They make the wood have a blueish tinge to it, giving it the name "Bluejean Pine." Although I'm not a fan of those nasty little beetles, they sure leave behind a uniquely beautiful mark.

Gotta love reclaimed wood! I built this welcome booth back in November for a local church. The front, sides, and tops are all made out of reclaimed wood from Western Reclaimed Timber. Each piece of wood is so unique and brings so much character, and all together they make a work of art.
