I have a horse in for rehab. Today was the first trim. Made good progress. I find that looking at photos after I see more of what I could have done. This was enough for the horse today. She is more comfortable to stand so it is a good start. More posts to follow on the progress. Thanks to Hay Girl for having the tested low sugar hay to start on the road to recovery, along with organic beet pulp, Vitamin C and Pro Colon.

Hvrítserkur had a treatment today by Kaila Mussell I had my suspicions that he was not using his body quite right. Training horses is for me not just about arena exercises. It is the pre and post ride routines that help us understand how or what we should focus on in our riding sessions. For Hvrítserkur it has been about getting him using his body from hind to front. Lots of basic exercises in hand and video of me riding is how I gauge if what I am doing is working for the ho...rse. Each horse needs a different approach. My pre ride I spend the time to use a rubber curry to feel if he is tight anywhere or shows and soreness to touch. Post rides I stretch him and use a tool for muscle scraping. He really enjoys it and it has paid off in identifying new areas for me to focus on. Having body work done is just another piece of the pie. @kassie_brennan17 was my helper today to muscle test Hvrítserkur today. I find this the best way to determine what each horse needs in their diet. There is not one supplement blend ghat works for all horses. Using this method identifies the outer most layers for us to focus on. Want to know more? Ellie and Macy had their first official ride today. It’s like taking the training wheels off a kids bike for the first time. She rocked it. Even got some steps of tolt. This mare has a special place in my heart. And into the weekend we go. I work this weekend so I will be riding before work shifts. Next week I will do his shoes and then the real work begins. This guy is so nice to work with.
