THE FUTURE OF THE ROYAL OAK GOLF COURSE - AND THE URBAN CONTAINMENT BOUNDARY

CANCELLATION NOTICE: Saanich Legislative Services have just advised today that the 540 Marsett Pl. (former Royal Oak Golf Course) Application to Exclude lands from the Agricultural Land Reserve has been withdrawn from the Oct. 28/19 Committee of the Whole agenda, at the request of the applicant. This effectively places the application on hold until\unless the applicant signals to Saanich Planning to once again place this item on an agenda for a future Committee of the Whole ...Council meeting to consider the application. Based on what little is known about the applicants intentions at this point, we should be aware that It is possible that the applicant could seek to have the application brought before Council early in the New Year, perhaps February or March, but this is pure speculation at this time. It could be sooner or it could be later in 2020. Clearly, however, the applicant is not happy with the Planning Report recommendation to Council to reject the application and they are now likely re-assessing their next steps.

HIGH ALERT. It’s time to mark your calendars, marshal the troops and prepare your presentations. Saanich has confirmed that Monday, October 28th is the Committee of the Whole meeting at which the application to remove the former Royal Oak Golf Course lands from the ALR will be on the agenda.... It is a public meeting and we need all of you to attend and speak against this application. If you haven’t yet done so, please forward this to all your contacts and neighbours who oppose removal of these lands from the Agricultural Land Reserve. If your unable to attend and speak to your opposition of removal of this land from the ALR we ask you to please email Saanich council to register your opposition. Link below. Staff is recommending that council forward the application to the ALC, but with the recommendation to refuse.
