Acoustic guitar practice time! Sometimes you just gotta put on the metronome, grab a guitar and see if you can create something own the spot. It's a great way to practice, and since I like to think in terms of "sections" in my music this forces me to halfway remember what it is that I did. Sure, it's a bit rough in spots - but that's what you get when you "think out loud" musically. What's important I think, are the ideas - plus with an acoustic guitar there's really nothing but the player and the instrument, and I think that rawness is cool! It's Wednesday. That means that we need a fun guitar solo - I opted for this semi-bluesy thing in Gminor. Mostly because... it was fun. Also, no picks were harmed in any way for the filming of this. Here's a quick tutorial on modes if you don't know or understand them, It should help out a lot, and they are easier than you think. It might even be that you already know and use the concept (It's everywhere) but just don't know the naming conventions. Well, I'm here to help! Some critical "preliminary knowledge" will make learning the modes much easier. Modes is actually a super simple concept.... So I've always kind of messed around with drawing cartoons and spent a good part of my life at a "real job" doing CAD drawings and models for various purposes, CNC cutting that sort of thing. I really knuckled down and decided to learn "Blender", which does that sort of thing as a 3d graphics software and one of my first projects I gave myself was... a guitar! lol Well, looking back on it now, I certainly did it the hard way at the time, but it turned out pretty good! lol Now I can "virtually" have any guitar I want! hahaha Anyways, guitars rule - have a great Wednesday!

So here's another picking tutorial; This one is on "barely" picking a 3nps scale, ascending and descending. Basically, using a hammer-on or a pull-off to buy you time to pick. Pick-pick-hammer, or pick-hammer-hammer, etc. Maybe something in this video will help someone who's working on this sort of thing... The scale I used is A Harmonic Minor, (ABCDEFG#) for that fun "Neo" sound... Played my Strat once again into a Boss GT1000 and then into a L6 power cab!
