Baloo shared his collection with the cubs. We played a new name called "zoo keeper". In the craft workshop, we made a box for our collection. This is our way of creating a buzz for the Hobby Personal Achievement Badge.

All our 13th Whitby Group sections got together to kick off the new scouting year with a party. We had door prizes, crafts, a Jungle Book display, we got to show off some of Scouting blankets and some of our past Kub Kar and Scout Truck winners. Big thanks to Scouter Jack Welsh who joined us to introduce many of our youth to badge trading. They got a started trading kit. A big Hurray to all our 13th Whitby Scouters for organizing the event, and a special thanks to @StMarksUnitedChurchWhitby for allowing us to use their space for this event.

On November 26 we visited the Canadian Automotive Museum. We saw the time travelling car from the movie Back to the Future and Lightning McQueen from the movie Cars.

At the last cub meeting we made field books at the Whitby Library.

We held our investiture ceremony last evening. We welcomed Scouter Richard "Bagheera" into our pack. We invested 7 new cubs as Runners! We promoted two cubs to Howler rank and 8 cubs invested to Tracker rank.

For our second meeting of the new Scouting season, 13th Whitby Cubs and 13th Whitby Troop linked up for a hike at a local conservation area. We got to enjoy a beautiful evening outdoors while learning about plant identification, orienteering and outdoor skills.

Better late then never. Here are the photos from our final camp of 2018-2019 scouting year - Cuboree at St. Marie Among the Hurons. We camped with three other Cub Packs creating an uber camp. We became 29th BROOKAWASHY for the weekend.

Even though this is not a Pack adventure I had to share to give our cubs a glimpse of what to look forward to down the road. This is 13th Whitby Troop at a one-week long semi-wilderness camp in Haliburton. The camp is reachable by boat only and the youth will have to get to the various activities by canoe. Yes, they are tenting it and doing a lot of the food prep themselves. Every single one of these kids has been a member of our Cub Pack...though they were smaller then and more than one used to be intimidated by overnight weekend camps at Samac...in cabins. We are so proud to see our former cubs embarking in bigger and more challenging outdoor adventures. #ScoutsDoStuff #CampingIsInTents

Whitby Area Scouts is having a Public Campfire at Kitchie Lodge, Camp Samac on June 5th at 6:30pm. There will be songs/skits, hot chocolate and marshmallows. Please feel free to extend this invitation to friends/family or anyone who is curious about Scouting. See you at Samac!

We linked up with Scouts Canada - 13th Whitby Troop for an evening of hiking and geocaching at Heber Down Conservation Area. The weather was just right, and although some of us were attacked by mosquitoes, all in all we had a great time. #ScoutsDoStuff #GetOutside

Some photos from our last meeting. Cubs had the opportunity to bring along a friend. We met at the Whitby Waterfront to skip rocks, collect them and then paint them. We finished off the day by burning off some energy at the playground. Thank you to all who came. We had a great time meeting new friends and sharing our adventures with them.

Every spring since 1972, thousands of Scouts across Canada plant trees through the Scoutrees Program. This year Scouts in the Whitby area planted almost 300 trees along the Whitby Waterfront Trail. A huge thanks to the organizers and to all the 13th Whitby youth and their families who came and got their hands dirty and their boots muddy to plant trees, effectively demonstrating their concern for the environment through action. Keep up the good work!

Good Turn Week comes once year and it provides an opportunity to do simple acts of kindness. This year, our 13th Whitby Cub Pack is collecting non-perishable food items to be donated to our local food bank. Road, Trail and Ravine Spring Clean Up 2019

We got all our sections together for our first group camping event at Woodland Trails. 13th Whitby Troop stayed in tents, Cubs and beavers in a cabin. First night dropped to -19C but our youth were amazing, handled it like pros and earned bragging rights. Thanks to all our 13th Whitby Group Scouters (those at camp and behind the scenes) and parents for a memorable camp. 13 Whitby youth enjoyed crafts, games in the forest, lessons in fire making, and got to make their own p...izza rolls in the fire. Troop got to keep fine tuning their knife, ax and saw handling skills while the younger sections got an intro to knife handling by carving soap bars with plastic knives. Special thanks to our guest speaker for coming to visit us at camp and giving us a very interesting lesson in Astronomy. Today is the day! We are super excited to be linking up with the Scouts Canada - 13th Whitby Troop and 13th Whitby Beavers to enjoy an exciting weekend at Woodland Trails. Parents, please ensure your cubs have packed according to our Winter Camping Packing List. The weather during the day will be mild, but early morning and evenings will be frigid, so please ensure winter gear is included as requested. We will be providing an evening snack, but please ensure your cub has a good meal prior to arrival. See you all tonight!

Big thanks to Venturer Scouts Robert and Baron for teaching our cubs about emergency preparedness. We got to discuss various emergency scenarios and the best way to deal with them. At the end of our meeting cubs got to prepare and take home emergency kits.

A big thanks to all the scouters, parents and youth who participated in our Kub Kars Racing 2019. A big HOORAY for all of our 13th Whitby Cubs. What an amazing job you did. For many, it took learning new skills to turn a pinewood block into an awesome Kub Kar. A special shout out to those moving on to the finals. We'll be cheering you on.

13th Whitby Cubs, Happy Founder's Day!! Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scouting movement, was born on February 22nd, 1857. His birthday is celebrated as Founder's Day by Scouts around the world. If you wear your Scouts uniform today in honor of Lord Baden-Powell, show us your photos.

These are unpublished photos from last year's Kub Kars Racing (our camera charger was misplaced and we were unable to upload these photos until now...yes, charger has been located). 13th Whitby Cubs did amazing. We took home 1st place Design, 1st place Speed and several other awards in the top 10 at the finals facing off against other Packs in the Durham area. With Kub Kars 2019 around the corner, we want to wish our 13th Whitby Cubs good luck during the first round and the finals.

Dear Parents, due to expected inclement weather this evening, our gym permit has been cancelled again by the DDSB. Rather than cancelling our meeting altogether, we have arranged to meet at the Main Branch of the Whitby Public Library (405 Dundas Street West) at 6:30pm, front doors. There is a special display of Scouting memorabilia we will be exploring. Parents and siblings are welcome to join us. Please be aware of weather conditions and use your own discretion.
