Ed is enjoying his new (used) truck! It holds a lot, and it has a lift.
Holiday Monday, waiting for the scrap yard to open tomorrow!
Is ScrapGoat still available for picking up your scrap metal? YES. Ed is requesting a $5 donation to Hope House for each pickup (if you can afford it - if you can't, no problem.) Ed follows strict social distancing rules. Zero contact: please put your items outside (in front of garage or front porch, not at the curb) and don't offer to help him lift them.... Metal recycling is part of the Ontario essential services supply chain.
Shout out to Our Homes magazine, and to Ivan and Sabrina for mentioning Scrapgoat (in RED letters) in the article about their reno! They gave all the scrap metal when they gutted and renovated their home. It's an interesting article, lots of great pictures and ideas. If you want to see the whole article, link is below in comments.
The city of Guelph started enforcing its large-item-at-curb bylaw provision about a year ago. City employees, such as trash collectors, are supposed to notify bylaw enforcement when they see items. So how much will you be charged for a large item left at the curb? It's EXPENSIVE. I asked the city and got this reply: "The City of Guelph’s residential curbside waste collection program does not include pickup of large items. Large items that are left at the curb without a large... Item ticket are subject to enforcement under the Waste Management By-law, and you can be fined or charged a clean-up fee. The fee starts at $175.00 and could go much higher." This is why Scrapgoat always tells you to put your appliance that you want picked up in front of your garage, or by your front door.
A big thank you to Benmet Staff who found my cell phone in their scrap pile after it had fallen off my belt while I was unloading my truck! It was in it's tough Otter case and they could hear it ringing in the pile!
Last year, 2019, Scrap Goat raised over $31000 for Hope House!!! Thank you to all who donate METAL and WINE bottles. If you liked my service, consider sponsoring me and Hope House on my walk/run on COLDest Night of the Year on Feb. 22nd. Go to http://walk.w-ith.me/EdRoss
