Update: reopening date is February 16! I’ve started working through my wait list and scheduling appointments, it’s going to take me awhile to get to everyone (100+ dogs to 1 groomer), but we’ll get there eventually. Another update! Grooming is allowed for health and welfare cases only. This means if your dog’s nails are so long they are curling or affecting your dog’s mobility, if your dog is biting or chewing at their long nails or matted fur, if their eyes or sani are crusted to the extent they are at risk of infection, I can help. These are not pretty grooms, they are nails and shave downs only, or medicated baths for the owner incapable of bathing their dog at home, until we hear otherwise from the government. If you are concerned about your dog’s health due to their grooming needs, please send me a message!

It’s possible we may hear something on Monday giving some businesses, such as grooming, a timeline for reopening. If you hear grooming is permitted, please do not blow up my phone and flood my email and messages. I am watching the news, I have a wait list, it’s very long, this is going to be a long and stressful game of catch up, but I will be in touch eventually, I promise. You have all been so very patience and understanding, which I greatly appreciate! Also, if you’re new here, until I catch up with all of my regulars, I will not be taking on any new clients. If you already have a local groomer you regularly see, please be loyal to your groomer in these crazy times. If you don’t have a local groomer, for example you have a new puppy, send me a message and I’ll do what I can. Stay safe y’all!

Groomers have been getting much attention from the media with many groomers and pet owners pushing to making grooming an essential service. This has led to some regions in Ontario announcing that they will allow grooming as they see it as providing for the health and welfare of animals. Unfortunately this is a misinterpretation of the ROA as grooming falls under section 23, the same as pet trainers, currently limited to training only for service animals. A municipality cannot... override a provincial mandate, and groomers are still legally required to close. Until a reopening plan is announced on a provincial level giving groomers the ok to reopen, Scruff McGruff Day Spaw will remain closed. If you have any questions in regards to your dog’s grooming needs please don’t hesitate to send me a message. I’m looking forward to the time when I can legally continue to groom, I miss all my dogs and my clients very much. Yay! It's Sunday!...

Happy New Year! Though this year isn’t starting exactly how I was planning, I’m hopeful it’s not only a good year for the dogs, but maybe us humans can have a few good moments too.

Merry Christmas from Scruff McGruff Day Spaw! In an attempt to capture Christmas Eve photos of my tiny humans last night, I also managed to quickly snap a photo of my Falkor and his blurry bff, Tucker. These two rarely stay still for more than a minute, but they always keep us entertained! Stay safe everyone! Hoping I will be back in the salon at the end of next month

So it looks like groomers will have to close during the provincial lockdown starting December 26. For now, let us all enjoy the holidays as best we can! I will be in touch after Christmas to reschedule my January appointments. Thank you so much to everyone for your patience and understanding
