Lol. Words from a lovely senior while in conversation about getting a task done 'So I went to my file.....[pause and a bit of silence] you know when I say file I mean that bag of papers at the back of my drawer, right?' Ah to share a good laugh with years of wisdom. Priceless. ... #workingwithseniors #HelpingSeniors

'I just won't tell them I smoke.' "They do need to know he is incontinent." ...so often we hear these types of comments about items that challenge a certain deeply rooted emotion.... So many times clients wish to avoid sharing sensitive information. If the goal is to move towards the proper support and assistance, hiding information will simply hinder the whole journey. Current needs are current needs. No need to hide. It is agreed that opening up is hard. When the whole portrait is shared openly a better approach can be created and put in place towards the proper help. #harddiscussions #changeinautonomy #honestyiskey #helpingseniors #relocation #AgingOurWordsMatter

Since the holidays were different last year, because of Covid, many of us did not see our folks like we usually do. No family gatherings, no family discussions and distance can increase our chances of missing signs of aging in loved ones. Now, not all seniors face a change in autonomy but if and when they do this video covers different activities of daily living that you may want to pay attention to. The current physical set-up affects a lot when someone faces a change of autonomy. Take a listen to see if ideas come up on how you can pay attention to change from a distance and ideas on how to offer help.

Boom. Not only attending the NASMM conference this year, virtual due to Covid, but Marie-Claude will be on Ask a Senior Move Manager panel. Such fun. Senior move managers are such a beautiful bunch of people who fill a room with passion, knowledge and dedication. To be invited as a panellist this year is quite amazing and flattering. NASMM= National Association of Senior and Specialty Move Managers of which Helping Seniors is a member of for 7 years now.
