Winter septic inspections... The common question I receive is how are sellers supposed to expose septic tanks with the challenge of digging through frost? No worries at all... Digging services are available with one of our mini excavators to ensure the inspection is completed to the fullest. After all, you can’t inspect a system properly without exposing the tank or accessing the outlet pipe leading to the septic field. ... Regular rates still apply of $250 - $300 plus HST to expose the tank depending on location and accessibility. Should The Septic Doctor be the service provider for the video inspection service, the cost is reduced for the excavation as an added value to the clients if the excavation and inspection can be completed at the same time. Installations are still going strong even into the winter months, so if you’re curious about installing a system this time of year...guess again, permits are still coming-in! Thanks again for your continued support!

Here’s some of the finished products and examples of the installation work we’ve completed in the last 2 weeks.

Bed Blowouts! Have you ever seen anything this bad on your lawn? This is direct leakage of the effluent fluid coming from the distribution trench. What do all 4 of these properties have in common? They all have water softeners and all range from 19-24 years old. It was a sad day to see all 4 of these septic systems in this condition but it’s very clear what’s happened to the distribution trench. The liquids are not able to drain through the pipe into the gravel and san...d for filtration and purification, so the effluent attempts to drain throughout the sidewalls of the distribution trench. Eventually, the pipes are completely buried beneath the liquids and the bed is completely saturated. These blowouts, also known as breakout points, are typically on the surface of the septic field or slightly downslope to the distribution trench. The fluorescent dye will always surface in these spots if there’s ever a question as to what may be occurring. See more
