Today, the Ontario Government announced that the province will enter a provincewide shutdown on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 12:01 a.m. As part of the provincewide shutdown, all regions of Ontario will have new restrictions similar to regions currently in lockdown. Learn about the time-limited restrictions during the... provincewide shutdown. Although the current restrictions do not directly impact the ability of Massage Therapists (MTs/RMTs) to provide healthcare services, the temporary closure of establishments such as spas and gyms may impact some RMTs and clients. RMTs should continue to monitor the COVID-19 regional public health measures and restrictions in their area. RMTs can access up to date epidemiological information through the Ministry of Health’s website or Public Health Ontario’s COVID-19 Data Tool. RMTs should only be providing in-person treatment when the anticipated benefits of treatment outweigh the risks to the client and the RMT. We continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates on any new provincial measures and directives impacting RMTs as they become available. COVID 19 & Massage Therapy Update: First, we would like to thank you for your patience and support over the last two months. We want to clarify as much as we can about an announcement made yesterday and how it pertains to our Massage Therapy practice. On Wednesday, May 27th the Ontario Government and the Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health have provided a new directive for Regulated Health Professionals that allow for a gradual restart of services to be carried out with a...dherence to guidance from each health profession’s regulatory college. The directive includes Registered Massage Therapists under the guidance of our College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). We want to clarify that this announcement was a general statement which means not all Regulated Health Professionals will be opening at the same time or at the same rate (or at all, for now). Our CMTO released their updated mandate for RMT’s to follow. It states, Massage Therapists can gradually restart practice, prioritizing essential care needs, at this time. There is guidance to what this means which we must follow to ensure the safety of everyone. Our priority is to the health and safety of our RMTs, our families and our clients as well as to ensure that the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks. With that, we have some changes that will be coming into effect over the next while, which we will update you as soon as we have things in place. These include, but are not limited to, the pre-screening of clients before every treatment, increased onsite sanitization practices, increased documentation and record keeping of practices, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face masks for the RMTs and clients, and additional health & safety training. Please remain patient as implementation of these guidelines and obtaining sufficient PPE (due to shortages) can be a lengthy process. We will implement a gradual return to practise when it is safe to do so and keep everyone posted when we are able to accept bookings. Thank you again for all of your support during this time. The College of Massage Therapists has just informed us that the non essential closure has been extended to at least May 19th. At Serenity Now, we are anxiously awaiting word when we will be given clearance to reopen; as we miss your faces! :) In the meantime, we are examining best practices to maintain the safety of our clients and therapists so it will be a fast and smooth start up. Serenity Now Massage Announcement!!!! The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) has informed RMTs that we are to suspend all non-essential massage therapy treatments until further notice. Serenity Now will be closed until at least March 30th (14 days), at which time we will reassess the situation. As we get more information, we will continue to monitor and update through social media and our website.... We will be contacting all clients booked in and will be doing our best to reschedule everyone as best we can. We care about our clients safety and want to make sure their health is our number one focus. Please take care of yourself! We look forward to treating you all again in the near future.
