Looking back... Darren had set up our special car (our first date was in this Daytona...we went to the Odion Drive In in Winnipeg!). We were getting ready for a car show with Darren Darvil and his car gang: No Limits Car Club. He'd offered to host a fundraiser to raise money for our much needed projector. That fateful night occurred July 11, 2015, just 4 days after this. Nonstop lightening; it was like daylight when I looked out the window. Then I heard that jet engine ro...ar. I was so scared. I was just texting Darren about how scared I was when my eldest ran into the room shouting the screen was down. My first thought was (honestly) that I hoped Darren's car wasn't crushed. After the storm died we went to look. The screen had fallen forward crushing our playground. Broke my heart to see the crushed merry-go-round I'd played on as a child when my family came to this Drive In for a movie. It's been a long 5 years as we finished our house (no contractors!) and then waited for money to get to the point we are now. We are looking forward to getting back into movie business...we'd love to host more car shows to fund raise towards doubling our screen. Maybe rent advertising space to help offset costs??? I know nothing about this but will look into it. I want to host youth/college and career group nights from our area and surrounding area. I'm thinking climbing rocks to about 6ft up would be cool for kids. Dreaming!
And they’re up! . For the record, each container is 40’ long, 8’wide and 9’6 high. They each weigh between 8600 and 9200 lbs empty! Big thank you to Gordon Reimer’s Crane service from Boissevain, Jonathan Gillis’ Prairie Track and Truck Construction, Killarney, and to Darren and Michael Struss; for the work they all did. So happy to be at this point.
Such a windy day! . Thank you Brandon Sun for your article.
We’ve been busy painting those containers...our kids think they’re the best forts ever. We’re feeling excited! http://killarneyguide.ca//whats-in-store-for-the-shamroc/
This morning, as I stood at my kitchen window doing dishes, I saw our screen sign, missing for 5 years, leaning against the rocks just beyond our fence. Inquiring of my nearest child, I was told that my 9 and 6yr olds found it while on a pasture adventure and dragged it there. It had flown over 500 yards at least....I’m floored....
Oh wow! Didn’t expect to run into Aquaman today! Have a blessed Passover/Resurrection weekend everyone!
Thank you, Tyler Clarke of the Brandon Sun for featuring us. Still laughing at Luke's pj attire. https://www.facebook.com/580525924/posts/10155443863650925/
