Sheridan’s campuses and virtual offices will be closed December 23 to January 4 and reopening on January 5. No matter how you get active, it's important to stretch and cool down afterwards. This helps your muscles return to a resting state and aids in recovery. Stretching throughout the day is a great way to take a quick break from studying or class. Ideally you should try to take a 5-10 minute break after an hour of sitting (CCOHS, 2020) Our #SheridanMoves activity challenge you for this week is two-fold: 1) Complete a proper cool-down including 5 minutes of stretching after enga...ging in physical activity. Follow this Sheridan Bruins guide: https://j.mp/2UiI2eP 2) Take a stretch break after one hour of work in front of a screen. Here are a few examples of stretches that can be done from your desk: https://j.mp/32D5Tu1

The global scale and depth of change and disruption in 2020 has touched every aspect of our lives. The COVID-19 pandemic, social justice awakening, calls for action on climate change and demonstrations to uphold Indigenous rights have spotlighted long-existing inequities. We are at an inflection point one that requires all of us to step up and help find ways to amplify historically underrepresented voices and action change that builds resilient individuals and communities. ... As a trailblazing institution of higher education in Ontario, we at Sheridan College want to catalyze change in an area we know well: learning and education. But we can’t do it alone. We’ve designed the Reimagine Learning and Education in our Communities Challenge that requires your voice, experience and ideas. The question at the heart of the challenge is: How might we collaborate within our communities to reimagine learning and education so that no one is left behind and everyone can realize their full potential? The challenge includes three stages, beginning with the Inspiration stage, and will culminate in a final event. Throughout the process, more than $60,000 in prizes are available to be won, including one prize for a team that includes Sheridan students. Visit https://challenge.sheridancollege.ca/ to learn more and get involved. #HigherEducation #PSE #CANpse #SheridanReimagine
