what do you see?
Too often these days we see the BS Art of Catching Punches being taught in so many classes within the BJK. Often it’s because those teaching this rubbish haven...’t got a clue about Real World violence. Other reasons are because they try to mimic what is taught in the Hombu, yet don’t understand what is being taught there, or their stop-start teaching methodologies impress their students. It might impress students in the dojo but it’ll only get them seriously injured or worst still, dead if they try to do the same crap on the street. No attacker is going to ever stand motionless whilst allowing you all the time in the world to do fancy techniques against them. There’s way too much crap being taught, and more concerning is that way too many people are like sheep following each other thinking they can catch a punch thrown by some violent piece of shit ( POS) attacking them. So watch the video and ask yourself these questions.... 1. How many punches did the offender throw in the 3 seconds of this attack? 2. Realistically, what’s the chances ( apart from zero) of catching a punch in this scenario. Seriously, if you think catching punches in the dojo is effective, and realistic training to prepare you for the dangers of violence in the Real World, then you are in for a rude awakening.....!! Stay safe, train often and always remain humble. Paul J DaiShihan & Founder Bujinkan Jissen Dojos
Hey Everyone, I came across this dojo via a friends "heads up". Looks like he's selling menjo (among other things) to whomever wants to pay. His name is Jason ...Steeves and he runs the Divine Warrior Dojo in New Brunswick, Canada. He's also selling copies of Hatsumi Sensei's artwork, pirated videos, patches, etc....basically he lacks ethics and etiquette IMHO, unless someone can convince me otherwise. See more
In the beginning of this clip (posted yesterday), Naka-shihan (a very famous instructor at the Headquarters Dojo of the Japan Karate Association) is asked who was the strongest Budoka he has ever met, and he answers "There were so many that I can't choose one, but the most mysterious was Hatsumi-sensei."

I don’t know what this book is called but I found these images whilst researching Kusari Fundo, the weighted chain. Defense against an opponent armed with a Katana. Clearly the first move is pretty crucial, avoiding the cut...
