Siloam Mission Responds To Allegations In The Media CTV Winnipeg and CBC Winnipeg each ran stories asserting that Siloam Mission is failing to allow for Indigenous cultural practices and spiritual care. These allegations misrepresent the work of Siloam Mission and do a disservice to the committed work of staff, volunteers, donors and community members.... To prevent misinformation from spreading, we’d like to address and clear up the main allegations levelled at the organization. #OrangeShirtDay is a movement to recognize the injustice of the residential school system and to honour the resilience of survivors and their families. Residential schools existed in Canada for over a century with the last one closing only in 1996. This is a dark moment in Canada’s recent past. As a national community, we must continue to work towards reconciliation for a better future. #EveryChildMatters

Homelessness and substance use are experiences that often have roots in the same place: trauma. Ending the stigma around trauma and addictions is key to what’s critical: bringing people back to community. We are taking a moment this International Overdose Awareness Day to honour those we have lost to overdose and those who are survivors. By developing 20 new supportive recovery housing units we hope to lend a helping hand to this issue. These units will be reserved for peop...le coming out of addictions treatment programs who otherwise would have no home or place to return to, offering a supportive space during recovery. #OverdoseAware #IOAD2020
