To our Amazing Silver 7 Family As many of you know, yesterday the Ontario Government announced that we are entering another lockdown as of December 26th for 28 days. As a result of this we have switched all our classes to our Online Academy. All class times will stay the same. We will resume in person classes as of Monday January 25th. Ready for a Fitness Challenge that requires absolutely zero equipment or space? No jumping around.. no fast movements.. you literally, just stay perfectly still.. like a board.. or a plank! Planks are great because you can start with just a few seconds and build up as you go and there are lots of variations to suit your own personal ability or fitness level. So, let's start TODAY! Let's build up to 1 minute planks per day in 5 days.. ... YOU CAN DO THIS.. It's only Monday - Friday, but that's enough to bust over the hump & get your blood pumping.. You might even see a little extra definition in your arms & shoulders! or feel it in your core when you're walking around! What if I can't do a One Minute plank..? No worries.. you've got options Start with 30 seconds, or 20.. or 10! Whatever you can do. Then take a little break and try to get to 60 seconds. The next day, try to do it with less breaks Or change your form. If elbow planks are too much right now, move up to your hands with straight arms. Even do them with your knees on the ground if you need to.. just focus on keeping your hips low & in line with your ankles and your shoulders. Whatever version you choose, just get started and commit to something.. Make a commitment to yourself for JUST 5 days & check in when you're done, HERE ON THIS POST every day!

Ready for a Healthy Challenge? It's crazy how many people just 'forget' to drink water during the day... Has this ever happened to you? Drinking water is so fundamental, that a TON of people overlook it and completely forget. During the holiday season when many of us are drinking a few more unhealthy beverages than normal.., we can ALL use a reset to focus on drinking enough water. So, let's start TODAY! Drink 1 Gallon (4 liters) of Water for 5 days.. ... What are some benefits of drinking more water? More energy.. You'll feel fuller, longer.. Clearer, brighter skin.. Fewer headaches.. Feel more alert.. Decrease bloating & maybe even drop a couple of pounds! What if I'm not supposed to drink a gallon..? What if that's too much for me? Then by all means, PLEASE don't do it. If you're concerned about a specific health condition that would make drinking a gallon not right for you, don't do it. Instead, maybe just try doubling your average daily amount of water for 5 days or make sure you hit your desired amount. YOU CAN DO THIS.. It's only Monday - Friday, and you may have a couple more trips to the restroom this week, but the benefits of increasing hydration is 100% worth it. This is DAY 5 of the "25 Squats per day" Fitness Challenge! How did it go? This one is a great one for a lot of people to get a quick reset each day. Even if you had to start slow & build up to 25, or break them up throughout the day, I hope you found that as you went on, they got a little easier each time.. ... This is a great one to leave in your daily routine all the time! Don't quit! When you're grabbing something from the fridge, making dinner, or watching a commercial, do a few squats & see how many you can easily add into your day. Now that the weather is getting a little colder, it gets easier to stay inside and move less throughout the day.. especially if you're working or going to school from home. Even if things haven't changed a ton for you, EVERYBODY can benefit from a little extra movement & physical activity every day. ... So, let's start TODAY! 30 pushups a day for 5 days.. YOU CAN DO THIS.. It's only Monday - Friday, but that's enough to bust over the hump & get your blood pumping.. You might even see a little extra definition in your arms! Arms change quickly so this is a great challenge to start with. What if I can't do 30 pushups..? No worries.. you've got options Take mini breaks after every 5 pushups.. Break them up throughout the day.. Get in pushup position, drop your knees to the ground, & modify your form.. Even do them standing against the wall at an angle if you need to.. just get started and commit to something.. Do this for yourself, with your spouse, or together with your whole family! Imagine what it would be like if you walked into a college class, sat down in front of the professor, and she just said to you, "I'm not sure what you'll get out of the end of this class, but we'll just start learning a little something every day & hope we end up better than we are today!" Sounds ridiculous.. (Although I could swear I had a prof that may have actually done that back in the day..) Either way.. Nobody would ever start something important without SOME kind of th...ought or plan.. Well, your LIFE is important. This WEEK is important. Take a 15-20 minutes today sitting down with a piece of paper and a pen, (go old school,) and write out some plans & goals for your week. Keep that piece of paper on you all week long & I promise you, you'll get further along accomplishing that list than you would if you hadn't made it at all & you were just running blind all week. That's one of my favorite "productivity hacks.." Let me know how it works for you

A lot of people are too intimidated to try making seafood at home. (Sensei Phil) :P I promise you, if you've never cooked any kind of seafood before, this is a great recipe to start with because shrimp are easy & there's no risk of your place smelling 'fishy.' (Good seafood should never smell fishy... but that's info for another post) ... Anyway, if you're a seafood pro, or you don't like shrimp, feel free to change this up & substitute any flaky white fish like cod, or even tilapia for the shrimp. This cooks so fast, it's a great midweek meal, but its fancy enough to make for a mid week date night.
