And now, with Mothers Day around the corner, and with limited spa access, are you feeling uninspired as to how you can make your Mom feel special? Though nothing compares to a spa visit, we wanted to offer a few simple tips for how to do at-home facials: 1 Pull your hair away from your face with a headband or towel, to reduce mess.... Now, its time for makeup removal! Rather than rubbing (hello wrinkles), consider applying an oil cleanser in circular motions. 2 Double-cleanse by massaging a small amount of another cleanser into your face & neck for 1-3 minutes. 3 Next, spray or apply toner with cotton pads. Remember the neck and decolletage (avoid eye area here), as they are the first areas, other than the face, to show age. 4 If you particularly enjoy facials that get a little steamy, pour boiled water in a large bowl and place your skin 6 inches away while covering your head with a towel to trap the steam.You can steam up to 10 minutes, 2 minutes at a time. 5 Gently massage an exfoliant into the skin. Be careful not to scrub or drag. 6 Its masking time! Apply a thin, even layer of your mask and leave on for 5-10 minutes before removing with a damp face cloth. For extra benefit, employ massaging techniques. 7 To deeply hydrate the skin, reach for your facial oil or moisturizer for another massage. Make sure to avoid acne-prone areas. Gently knead your face for 5-10 minutes before rinsing the product off. 8 Now to lock in the moisture: Pop on a serum that suits your skin & massage in circular motions. 9 Reach for your favorite eye cream, lightly blending & tapping the product until its absorbed. Take your moisturizer and apply a thin layer to the face, neck and decolletage. Leave all final three products on. Voila, at-home facial complete!
