#FAQFriday What does CPR do anyway? CPR is a way to buy time for the casualty. When your heart stops, there is no blood moving to the brain. Which means there is no oxygen going to the brain either. Since the brain can survive for about 4 minutes without oxygen, it is important to get the blood flowing again. When you compress the chest in CPR, you are pushing the blood around the body and to the brain. This effectively resets the stopwatch to zero giving the person a new 4-m...inute window. The rescue breaths you give them introduces new oxygen to the system and increases the oxygen available for the brain to use. #RéponsesdeFDS Qu'est-ce que la RCR fait après tout? La RCR est un moyen de gagner du temps pour la victime. Lorsque votre cœur s'arrête, le sang ne circule plus dans le cerveau. Ceci signifie qu'il n'y a pas d'oxygène dans le cerveau. Comme le cerveau ne peut survivre qu'environ 4 minutes sans oxygène, il est important que le sang coule à nouveau. Lorsque vous compressez la poitrine en RCR, vous poussez le sang autour du corps et vers le cerveau. Cela remet effectivement le chronomètre à zéro et donne à la personne une nouvelle fenêtre de 4 minutes. Les souffles de secours que vous donnez introduisent de l'oxygène dans le corps et augmentent l'oxygène disponible pour le cerveau.

Turn the AED on (open and/or push the on/off button) 2. Use the included scissors to expose the chest... 3. Use the included razor and towel to shave and dry the chest where the pads go, if needed 4. Follow the pictures on the pads and attach them to the casualty 5. Follow the prompts from the AED If you can, have someone start #CPR while you are getting the AED set up. November is the beginning of #CPRmonth, and we are pleased to share this excellent #CPR and #AED fact from our National Training team. So, an AED shocks someone's heart back to life? Short Answer: Yes, and no. It does deliver a shock that can allow the heart to restart a normal rhythm, but not like Frankenstein's monster. ... Longer Answer: When a heart stops beating normally, it often enters into Ventricular Fibrillationessentially quivering like a bowl of Jell-O. The heart's electrical activity is all over the place, and the heart's natural pacemaker cannot get things back on track due to the noise. An Automated Electronic Defibrillator (AED) sends an electrical shock across the heart to stop all the electrical activity and allow the natural pacemaker to regain control of the heart.
