Ski NS Technical Director - Michael Byrne Ski NS is pleased to announce that Michael Byrne has been hired as our new part-time Technical Director! After an extensive review of the Ski NS High Performance Program (HPP), Ski NS has decided to invest in hiring Michael as a part time Technical Director to lead the program.... Michael grew up racing in the Atlantic region and raced up to the FIS level until he was 20. Following racing he immediately began coaching and after finishing his undergrad at Mount Alison University he moved to Ontario to pursue coaching as a full-time profession. Michael spent six years coaching in Ontario for some of the top Alpine programs in the country. The majority of his time in Ontario was with U16 programs that provided him opportunity to attend all major Canadian racing events over 5+ seasons. In addition to his experience at the U16 level, Michael spent a season coaching the Alpine Ontario Women’s Provincial Team. This position provided him with extensive experience and knowledge of the FIS and Nor-Am circuits. Aside from his new role as the part-time Technical Director with Ski NS, Michael is also pursuing a Law Degree at Dalhousie and is the current Head Coach of the U12 program with the Wentworth Ski Raced Club. Michael will bring a fresh start to our high performance program and we look forward to positive developments moving forward. Please join with me in welcoming our new Technical Director.
