A big thank you to our executive. The girls are happy to be out at the field with our beautiful new score board. Nothing but smiling faces.

Sooke Minor Fastball Association 26.07.2020

Dear Members; Sooke Minor Fastball Association and Softball BC are committed to fastball being played this season for all levels, if at all possible, under the direction of and guidelines set by WorkSafe BC and the BC Ministry of Health. We understand how everyone would like to be at the ballpark either playing, coaching, umping or watching our kids play ball, so we want to assure you we are doing everything possible to allow everyone to enjoy softball safely. We are continui...ng to work closely with Softball BC to ensure social distancing in the game when we are able to return. Many groups are working together on return to play protocols that are safe and sound. These groups include Softball BC, Softball Canada, WorkSafe BC, ViaSport (Province of BC), our BC Health Minister amongst others. With so many governing bodies involved, you can imagine this all takes time. A phased plan will be created in order to return to play; phase one will be a practice format only with skills & drills, and limited to our home fields at Art Morris Park in Sooke. Due to COVID-19, the first step is to ask all SMFA participants to read and complete declaration and waiver forms for anyone listed on a team roster requiring insurance coverage from Softball BC. Before SMFA is given the go-ahead to Return to Play with safety protocols and official guidelines in place, all players/coaches/managers/executive members and umpires must complete the following waivers before play begins: 1.Informed Consent and Assumption of Risk Agreement 2.Declaration of Compliance - COVID-19 3.Consent for Use of Personal Information and Photo Release (THESE HAVE BEEN EMAILED TO YOU) send to: [email protected] before May 29, 2020 It is standard practice to register all teams with Softball BC in order that all participants are insured. SMFA’s Registrar works hard on completing this step each season, and will now keep track of all Softball BC waiver forms received for each registered member. Thank you again for your patience, and we appreciate you completing and submitting these forms ASAP so that our association will be organized & ready as soon as WorkSafeBC and BC's Ministry of Health allow us to play. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. While we are excited to possibly play some sort of ball season, the SMFA Executive are committed to the health and safety of all of our members. Sincerely, Justin Wilson President Sooke Minor Fastball Association
