We'd like to share the following message from the OLA. Sadly, even though the rep season is lost we're eager to try and organize something if things improve over the summer.
For those who are missing out on Lacrosse, we'd like to share a message from the OLA: --- As you are feeling, COVID 19 has had a huge impact on the sport we all love, lacrosse. The OLA and its sectors are accepting to the fact that our traditional OLA season is not possible. ... The OLA is still hopeful that the pandemic is brought under control in the coming weeks and that some sort of modified OLA season is possible. What that season might look like is speculation at this point. We do know there is no hope for a full season and that some teams have already made the tough decision that they will not be playing this year. All teams, including those that are still holding out hope for some lacrosse this year, will only move forward with the full blessing of the province, medical officers of health, our municipalities, and the OLA. Furthermore there will be no approval to return to play without an OLA Return to Play Policy which will be based on Provincial Return to Play Guidelines. We realize a lot of good things would have to happen for us to have some lacrosse this season including the absolute safety of our players, referees, volunteers and fans. The OLA is in continuous contact with the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture, who are also hopeful for a season in 2020. At this point the OLA can say in confidence that we will not have lacrosse of any kind before May 31.
We'd like to share an update from the Ontario Lacrosse Association. As such lacrosse operations will be suspended provincially until at least May 15th. Unfortunately this means we have had to cancel the planned Try Lacrosse nights. Sorry to everyone who was looking forward to it, we will provide more updates when we know more.... Stay safe out there!
An update for those eagerly awaiting news on the upcoming House league season. Our big announcement is that we will be doing two FREE Try Lacrosse sessions where anybody can come out and give the sport a try. We scheduled the following dates at the Northern Community Center:... April 7 - 7:30-9:30PM April 16 - 7-9PM Helmets, gloves and sticks are the only required equipment (sticks will be provided, hockey helmets/gloves are permitted). For House league, we are planning a two month season, starting at the beginning of May. We are closely monitoring current cancellations due to the coronavirus and understand that plans may need to change and dates rescheduled. When we know more we will provide an update.
