Hello Monday #SosnickiVIP home delivery members! We had to do a swap today in your bins! Sprouts for sprouts! (Aka instead of Brussel sprouts we added sunflower sprouts!) I know its not the same, but please give this new little crop here at Sosnickis a chance. When they are ready to harvest - they are ready to harvest!! Hands down, easiest crop we've ever grown on this farm!! Kera tried her hand at harvesting yesterday. Happy Halloween! Some little devils behind our market table @evergreen_brick_works this morning! Cauliflower, Celery, Peppers, Carrots, Beets etc etc etc! Load up on veggies before candy indulging folks! .... . .... AND as much as I love farm animals, especially cows -- we cannot STAND IT when our neighbours get loose and trample our crops! As in our carrots this morning! These are not cows belonging to our organic dairy neighbours - these are ot...her neighbours with serious fence issues, to the point of chronic lose animals. Police have even been involved in the past, cows on the road!! Wow...it sure doesn't feel like November! We are shipping out our first Nov/Dec VIP bins tomorrow and they are loaded with goodness! Proudly all our own veggies!! New this week our Brussel Sprouts (no way the stocks would fit in the bins - sorry!) and Daikon Radish! More Celery (we mass harvested and saved from hard frost), Red Onions, Red Cabbage, Yukon Gold Potatoes, Beets (the last with tops this week!) Was really great to see @_eric.robertson_ this morn while he was picking up some veg for his awesome creations @restaurant_pearlmorissette! SO great to talk shop and see how others are managing. Hands down, best carrot crop we've ever had. We've been crop touring (aka kids in the van driving around #NorfolkCounty) and watching some carrot growers in action last couple of years. Ben had a chat with one of them and got some advice. Though we really had to up our weeding game and spend a considerable amount of time hand weeding - very, very well worth it. Seeding into hills on our sandy part of the farm these roots are incredibly long, straight and sweet! Charlie appro...ved! Harvesting fresh with tops for a while before we mass dig for storage! Spinach, Tatsoi and Brassica Mixes all growing wonderful this fall. Fresh Spinach next week! And *almost* done the new greenhouse.
